Major temp swings. What to do?

Okay, recently I set up a 2.5(!) and I have the lights resting on the tank becaus my dogs hair gets EVERYWHERE!!! Anyway, when the lights are on (9hours) the temp gets to 83• when they are off it gets to 75• what do I do? Thank you guys!

Solutions:

1) place tank in basement

2) set your heater to 80 to reduce the swing

3) get a ice prob chiller with RKL (thats what i am doing.)

or 4) get a fan plus ATO.

get one of those air purifiers to remove the dog hair, then move the light away from the tank.

shave the dog.

 

 

i agree with raising the heater temp.

If you can't stop the heating in the day from the lights, then at least raise the heater's setting a few degrees below that maximum (like 80ºF). Also, use a thermometer to set the heater's temperature; don't rely on the heater's dial to be accurate.
