kalristo Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 so a niger trigger somehow got into the 4th chamber (far right) of my 12 gallon aquapod. i dont know how this happened but, i need to get him out in order to give to a friend. any ideas on how to "fish" for him out? thanks in advanced.
Arkayology Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Umm, Niger Tigger in a 12gal? I hope this is a joke.
seabass Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Yeah, one of those small brine shrimp net should work. Umm, Niger Tigger in a 12gal? I hope this is a joke.I thought that too, but he is giving it away.
kalristo Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 its not a joke. i tore down a friends 60 gallon and he gave me his hermit crabs and corals along with it was this niger trigger. i had no place for him to stay so i cleared out my rocks as best as possible and had him hang out there for the time being but yeah. the aquapods fourth chamber makes a L shaped shape. a little confusing...but i dont know if a net will cut it.

Reach in and grab a hold of him.
seabass Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Reach in and grab a hold of him.A small net can get into places that your hand can't. Plus they have teeth (and I thought a clownfish bite kind of hurt).
kalristo Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 Reach in and grab a hold of him. lol tried that the fourth chamber goes down a foot and a half and then left through a horizonal chamber about a foot. and the space is probably 3x4 so my arm can barely fit through let alone go through a maze ya know because i have bones. haha
cota472 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 i had that happen with my wifes tank and a blackcap basslet. it took me hours but i ended up peeling the backing off the tank so i could see whats going on. i had my friend use a flashlight to steer him to the far right where i was waiting with a net. that L shaped chamber is why i personally think the aquapod 12 is one of the worst designed AIO available
kalristo Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 thanks for all the advice guys, my gf ended up using her long skinny arms haha
basser1 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I've had this happen to me before with my bluespot jawfish chamber diving. Talk about a PITA!!. I had to take everything out of the back and use a very small net, it was the only thing I found to go that deep. But once I got StevieTs' fish saver, no more chamber diving!!
kalristo Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 include a link to stevie T's fish chamber im sure he'll appreciate the publicity saver**
marine51 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 if it happens again just run some tubing deep down into the chamber and attach it to a small pump. Should force the fish out of there in just a few seconds. make sure you're ready with a net. This works all the time.
