12:56 pm Fedex showed up and dropped off my order.. One doa shrimp :( dang it .. no mated pair now.. we will see what they do for credit/replacement since i bought the pair.

the Maroons are doing good cardinals in and doing ok one is a bit skinny.. I will feed frequently for a few weeks then start cutting them back to normal feeding once everyone is uber happy.

Grumpy the Yellow watchman gby is a spaz but looks good and healthy.

It took the GSM's less than one minute to start hosting the torch so that was awesome. One of the GSM's has an incomplete tail bar. This I predict will be the female.. the other one is shaking to the advances already. It also shoots across the tank gives him a nudge.. he shakes and it heads back to the torch.. very interesting I thought it would take longer for them to interact like this but I guess not.

Cucumber that came is YELLOW .. so i automatically like him. So far for a sand sifter he is on the rocks only so far.. LOL give him time.. : )

The Frags I got from Zepo showed in the mail while I was acclimating the order from www.saltwaterfish.com. The box was soaked. I am still not sure why. The corals were individually sealed then inside a ziplock bag. There was little water in the individual packages but plenty for the trip no0 doubt, so its a mystery.

I temp acclimated the corals and started opening and inspecting them. A quick dip and in the tank they go.

One zoa frag opened in a few minutes the others are still closed at this moment. I have them under a ledge so its pretty dark in there.

I'll get some pics of the corals once they open.

after 5 hours or acclimating and such I am gonna have dinner then I'll get some pics uploaded.

If anyone can tell me how to tell the gender of the cardinals I would appreciate it. They are not like pajama's and Bangai's

Nice tank! I like the new additions.

That cucumber is really nice looking and I like the other fish as well.

Hopefully your new MH bulb comes in soon... the yellow color is killing me! BTW, what MH kit did you get? I must have missed that if you mentioned it already.

Thx ajmckay.

The MH I bought was a older bare bones kinda deal from the hardware classifieds here. It was a 175w SE setup. The bulb should be here tomorrow or saturday I am hoping.. (yeah the yellow is killin me as well but even as bad as it looks the corals are responding better to it than to the PC lighting they were in.)

The ballast for the MH is an older electronic ballast I will likely upgrade it to something that will start a bit faster etc in the future but its fine for now.

I just wanted to say that this is one of my favorite aquarium threads. Not because you have lost fish, but because your having the same luck fish wise as I did when I started my first saltwater tank. My first fish was a blue damsel which I got 3 or 4 days after I set up my aquarium, it died the next day or two days later. Next I bought a Firefish and a Clarkii. Clarkii had what the Saltwater Specialist from Petco (which has a Marine Biology Degree or something like that or is trying to get one) and I think was "Clownfish Disease" he died within a week. So I go and buy another, within a week, the same thing happened to him. The Firefish is still going strong. I go to Petco and buy a Zebra Barred Dartfish (One of my favorite fish) and I get home from School two days later and I can't find him. So I go and buy John my O. Clownfish (Which my ex gf named after John Parker Wilson, the former ALABAMA QB before Greg McElroy) and Pre, my Blue-Green Chromis (Which was named after Steve Prefontain or something like that, he was a cross country runner and her idol, or something like that). My tank was doing good and one day I was in Petco and saw a Citrinus Clown Goby (They are one of my favorite Aquarium Fish) and named him Lori-Anna (my ex girlfriends name). I had 4 fish in my Eclipse 12 and everything was doing fine, all the perimeters were perfect and nobody was fighting. I get home from school a month later and Pre is missing, the next week, Lori-Anna (The fish not my ex lol) was dead, two weeks later Amber my FireFish has mouth rot and dies. So its just Me, John, and an Empty Tank. So a couple months later my Dad calls me and ask if I want a new fish from a LFS thats about an hour and a half away. I asked him for a Atlantic Pygmy Angelfish that I saw a few weeks ago and he buys it for me. The Angel was a cool fish! I kept him well fed and would keep algea sheets in the tank at all times. I get home from school one day and he's MIA, but the clownfish is still alive. A few weeks later I buy a Royal Gramma, a week later a piece of Live Rock falls on him and he's traped between the rock and the acrylic tank. So I waited four to five months before I got my next fish, a 6-Line wrasse. I got him this past November (or maybe October) and he's still alive! My cousin's ex bf, Nick gave me his YWG, and he's doing fine. So in my Eclipse 12 I have a 6- Line Wrasse and in my 10 Gallon Reef Tank I have John and the YWG. I had another Atlantic Pygmy in my Eclipse that I got in April, but he/she passed away this past Saturday or Sunday. So I have bad luck with fish too lol. Welcome to the club!

But you do have a nice tank, I love the 20k bulb!

WOW intestesting read.. LOL

Yeah I know my water is in good shape just think i have horrid luck with fish.. LOL anyways righ tnow the YWG is doing fine. The maroons which should have gold bars (they are a bit young still to develope those) are doing ok.. the one that i believe is a female did not eat today.. so hope thats not a trend starting.

The cardinal that is left eats everything..

The rainfordi goby has a chubby belly and picks are everything on the rocks and sand sifts all day long.. nibbles some cyclopeez occasionally too.

Hopefully the clown will eat tomorrow.. the 2 clowns been dukin it out some so that may explain why she was not eating and was in the cave all day.. we will see.. :)

Tanks for the read and reply. :)

Nice tank you got going, I like that cucumber. Now that you have removed the top lid you should go rimless. I have a 14 gallon Biocube and it looks awesome rimless.

Link to comment

I thought about going rimless but I can't I just know the YWG and rainfordi would jump if i did. I had no top for less thn 24 hours and fire fish jumped.. I am not one to chance their lives.

I am actually setting up a 40br and things will be moving around.. likely the BC stock look will return to this tank.

I'm currently working on the 40br tank. This tank currently has a nappy looking makeshift frag rack in it with the corals I got from you sitting on it mainly. I totally ran outa viable space on my sand.

So in a few weeks once the 40br has the rest of its stuff for the overflow etc I will post some FTS etc of the new corals.

I am currently switching from my deeper sand best to a normal 1 in sand besd. I will be reusing the left over sand in the 40br tank. There will be a couple pieces of rock moving over as well as a large majority of the frags. I just don't like the cluttered look in this tank. I added some rock and it just doesn't have the open look I liked.

FTS once its back to it simple elegance.. : )

Of course before things get better they get worse.

The torch coral had one of the heads 75% melt today.. just turned into brown jelly.

I cut that branch off and split the one good head off it and mounted it on a frag plug. The other dead head i tried to split and keep the 25% that was still healthy but it cracked. I saved what ever chunks i could and will hope it starts to grow.. if not then the skeleton pieces will be part of the rock.

Not a big deal just had not intended on splitting this colony in the fashion I had to. Hopefuly everything else stays well now.. The BC is out of lower light area so I am gonna push to have water in the 40br by next weekend. Hopefully it will be ready by then.

Dip it ASAP. Ive had a ~15 head colony of torch die overnight from the jelly. Nasty crap man. And i tried to save some by fragging also

All effected heads were dipped as soon as we found it. and the bad one fragged away.

Did save the removed head in some water though once I can rinse all the death from it I will throw it in as love rock.. or soon to be..LOL

waste not want not.
