Any chance that you can get a picture that shows the polyps a bit more clearly? It's really not striking me as a montipora, but the polyps are just fuzzy enough that I can't tell for sure if they're flower shaped or porites shaped.

I am fairly certain that the coral in question belongs to the genus Porites.

In that case porites or some related species, doesn't look much like a montipora but the polyps were the only thing throwing me off. Did you try just emailing John and asking him?
