15 bucks? Well, maybe closer to 20 with shipping, but I've only seen the K-Nanos that cheap when on sale, and with shipping closer to 25ish.

I didn't see on the users manual on the Tunze site that showed it coming with an elbow :( Perhaps the one for the Rio MIGHT fit if you decide to get one.

It comes out to $14.66, which is ok, but the + $8.84 shipping is the killer. $23.50 is easily Koralia Nano money for me at the LFS...

Ah, I see. I kinda thought maybe you meant your LFS, my LFS wants almost 40 bucks for a K-nano. I have to get almost all my dry-goods online or I'll go broke just trying to maintain my tanks. Heh, they have a 110g tank w/stand, mag-7, sump, and 4' VHO "light" for 2 grand if that says anything.

Would your LFS maybe be able to order one of the Tunze's or comparable for you a bit cheaper?

Wow, that's alot of :bling: Online is usually cheaper for me as well, but I know my LFS pretty well and he usually hooks me up on stuff (mainly livestock though). They are having a Christmas sale on Koralias right now and I think the Nano model is only 22 bucks! I am kinda considering it, but don't want a big obtrusive Koralia chillin' on the side of the tank.

Another thought is, the Tunze General Distributor office is right up the road in Austin, TX.

rio pumps are peices of crapola....

my rio90 made noise at random.

Lesson learned. I thought I could beat the odds and get a silent one! Fail! <_<

Well, I bought the supplies yesterday and put it all together tonight. I have the pics posted in the ATO thread, but I'll stick 'em here too 'cause I'm a picture whore. :haha:

I'll let y'all know how it goes.

man. mine goes through that little of water in one day!

You could drain that bottle in a day? A gallon has been lasting me over a week at a time...

Weekly update, Christmas Edition! Checked my water parameters this week (it's been a month now) and here we go!

Week 4 Results:

SG: 1.025 (ATO is workin' perfect! ;) )

pH: 7.8

Ammonia: 0.25 ppm

Nitrite: 0 ppm

Nitrate: 20 ppm

pH is still a little low...not sure what's up with that. Ammonia never goes away! I'm starting to suspect the Ammonia test solution now, but I'll give it another week. I'm also gonna test the premixed saltwater's ammonia level against my current readings. Nitrite that was pretty high last week disappeared and nitrates also lowered, so those are good signs.

Im totally willing to bet that yer ammonia issue is because yer still just cycling.

I'd also tell you to take out the filter floss.

All yer doin' is messin with yer nitrate cycle everytime you pull that out to "clean" it.

not a great idea.

yer ph will go up when yer cycle is done....

I cant explain that one, but thats how it werks.

I've gathered that I'm still cycling...I also don't leave the floss in there for more than a day...and when I do I throw it away altogether. I'm just surprised there is still die off on these rocks a over month later!

Eh, like I said, another week. If I waited a month already, I'll be fine with another week, or another 2 weeks. I'm poor enough that stocking this tank will probably take a while anyway! :haha:

You know I wouldn't put your stomatellas in an un-cycled tank! ;)

My suspicions were confirmed! I did an ammonia test on the premixed LFS saltwater and it also reads .25 ppm! Either the saltwater already has ammonia in it, or my test kit is way off and reading ammonia no matter what. I think i'll test my distilled water next just to make sure...

yeah re-do the test. You might have just put in a big drop or 2 by accident and it came out wrong, it happens.

Or the kits bad, and another possibility is that the LFS saltwater just has ammonia in it!

A 3 gallon should never take a full month to cycle, even when I used uncured rock the cycle only lasted a week. Have you been doing water changes? If not I would a 50 percent water change.

I thought it was a bit strange too. I have done zero water changes other than adding to the volume of the tank by way of the AC70.

As for the ammonia issue, I decided contrast the results from 3 difference sources.

On the left is my distilled water, the center contains premixed LFS water, and the my tank water is on the right.

The pic turned out quite yellow for each of the vials, but when I hold up the premixed and in-tank water next to the color card under a daylight bulb, it's definitely more towards the .25ppm color, whereas the distilled, as expected, is highlighter yellow and matched the 0ppm color. As a further measure, I'm going to bring a sample of my tank water and the premixed to the LFS and have them test it...

Mounted it approximately 8" off the water for now.

There is no possible way to get better pictures on my camera phone. The shimmer is incredible! Especially since I have so much surface agitation!

Thanks for makin' these Evil! B)

Well, I was lucky enough to catch a deal from a local reefer for some stuff he was getting rid of. I originally was going to get some chaeto he was giving away (which I did get), but he was tearing down his frag tanks and I couldn't resist.

These photos are pretty crap, but it's better than what my camera phone produces. At least I can attempt to get the white balance right with this point and shoot! :haha:

Teeny tiny zoa frags (3 little heads) that are pissed. They opened a bit today, but are closed again as of now.

Another small zoa colony (approx 16). These guys haven't opened at all.

Purple monti cap. You can actually make out some of the shimmer in this shot! B)

One of the birdsnest frags. This one is the more rounded tip variety.

19367_255938081136_519406136_3302125_2975022_n.jpg

Sharper tipped birdsnest. We'll see how they do under the LEDs.

19367_255938051136_519406136_3302121_4881016_n.jpg

Full tank shot. Still so empty... The color of the lighting actually isn't quite this blue...it's a bit more purpley..

I didn't really expect to get any of this, but he gave me everything for $10 bucks! His 190 gallon setup was pretty amazing as well.

I do realize the Birdsnest is gonna be a 50/50 in a tank a month and a half old (they didn't seem to be doing THAT well in the frag tank, and knowing me they'll die -_-), so I wanted to ask y'all for advice on it. Any tips?

I also have the chemi pure elite that I haven't dropped in yet...should I go ahead and do that?

Another question to those who are using the stock 9W Picotope lamp to light your AC70 fuge: does a lot of light leak into your tank? My tank is up against a wall, so the downward tilted light lights up the AC70 some and also reflects of the back wall. Not a whole lot of lights leaks into the display, but I'm wondering if this might have some adverse effects on the inhabitants?
