GPH for overflow? How much for a 20L...

What I am thinking about setting up is a 20L with a 10g sump. Ive searched through the threads and what I plan to set up is a HOT overflow and use a h20 pump[undecided about what pump] to return the water and use a ball valve to regulate the return.

What I would like to know is what size overflow should I use? I'll probably be buying one because I dont yet trust my DIY skills. So how many GPH would you reefers suggest for the overflow?

TIA,

Tam

How big is your pump. They are rated in those terms.

go with something a little bigger than your pump too, you dont wanna run your sump dry. Also depends on what type of environment you wanna create. If you can, get an overflow w/ 2 drain tubes, as w/ one, if it gets clogged, or plugged..........drip, drip , squish, AWWW crap, damn turbo snails!

I'm gonna do a 20L very soon. My plans are to have it drilled for 3 bulkheads:

* A 1" in the middle for an overflow

* Two 1/2" to the sides for returns via a MAG3 and a SCWD

I haven't researched it a whole lot but I think it will be ok.

The idea of two overflows in case of clogs does sound like a good idea. I may use a T and have two overflows. Not the same as two indivdual overflows but what the heck. :-)
