DBTReefer
Sorry for the lack of pics! I should have some in a few weeks when the lights are on. Since I am officially done with buying equipment (!) I am making a possible fish list. I am going to let some of the administrators that helped with the project choose the fish. Here is the list I have somewhat decided on: -2 ocellaris clownfish (donated by my parents) -3 Kaudern's cardinals or 3 pajama cardinals and/or 3 yellowtail damsels or 3 b/g chromis -1 royal gramma, 1 coral beauty, 1 mccoskers flasher wrasse, or 1 yellowhead jawfish (pick two) what do you think? I might buy the clowns this weekend and quarantine them at my house for the next week in my QT (not nearly as cool as wawawang's ) I'm also gonna buy some macros and CUC from reefcleaners Link to comment
acropora1981
Nice tank, I like those oddball clowns you have; Amphiprion polymnus? Link to comment
DBTReefer
thanks! the clowns are common clowns, Amphiprion ocellaris: EDIT: I can see the confusion; I made a typo in the spelling of ocellaris. Sorry Link to comment
pismo_reefer
Nice progress, bro!!! Great bulb choice! Theyll look great over a 55g and have good par as well. As for fish, NO coral beauty, you'll hate her in a week. And you may not ever see the Royal Gramma until it jumps, and it will. I think schooling fish and goby's/blennies when i stock big tanks.... (I go for a couple fish on every level. sand, middle, watercolumn, for even aesthetics.) I think every reef needs a pair of clowns Link to comment
DBTReefer
i originally wanted clarkii clowns, but after asking about 20 friends in different grades, the "one that looks like nemo" was decided on majority. I forgot about blennies! now I have to waste another hour on liveaquaria Link to comment
DBTReefer
Instead of the angel and gramma I'm gonna present the yellow watchman goby and Midas blenny. I'm also unsure if the flasher wrasse. I don't want a $50 fish to jump or die. What about a 6-line? I know they are aggressive, but the do look awesome. Link to comment
DBTReefer
Here's the final master fish list: Pick 1: pygmy angelfish flame angelfish lemonpeel angelfish pearly jawfish Pick 1: scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp blood red fire shrimp Pick 2: tailspot blenny yellow watchman goby midas blenny 6-line wrasse royal gramma wheelers watchman goby all of these along with 2 ocellaris clowns, 2 kaudern's cards, and 3 yellowtail damsels. too many fish? total is 10 Thanks. EDIT: oh yeah, im gonna get the whole school (or as much as possible) to vote on the listed inhabitants. I chose the clowns, cards, and damsels Link to comment
pismo_reefer
Gimme a minute to mill over yer fish list.... as for the shrimps.... I'd get 3 scarlet cleaners if at all possible. Each will stake out different parts of the tank, and clean fish of bacteria and infections... They're also amazing, well, cleaners... they get in crevices that nothing else can. Cleaners are the BEST shrimp! The "blood" or "fire" shrimp are also awesome.... MUCH moar timmid than the cleaners, and less of a 'neat freak' when it comes to food. If you get a sandsifting goby (I had a diamond), they will pair up and share a cave and food. Its an amazing thing to watch! EDIT: you can EASILY house 3xCleaners and 1xFire shrimp together. pismo_reefer
FISH: - Lemonpeel FTL.... (very pretty fish, very active. will nip corals!) I'd honestly ty to stay away from Angels, as they tend to nip things, and will be Nitrate machines..... - Yellow Watchmen Goby! (would pair w/ Fire Shrimp!/ a gr8 splash of color n movement.) - Midas Blenny is cool, too. - SixLine (great 'multi-purpose' fish. will eat FW's, Aip's, Keep pods in check, etc.) ^add the 6line last for 2 reasons, 1) they get feircely territorial. 2)they can MURDER a pod pop. in days. Other than that, just keep yer eyes open fer other possible fishies... Link to comment

I'm also really trying to stay away from larger fish, like tangs. Thanks Link to comment
got2envy
You def do not want to do 2 angels in that sized tank...they will def fight I would do just one and I can't think of any other ifsh that compare to an angel look at lgreens nano fish guide in the noob section for some ideas. DBTReefer
Here's the final master fish list V 2.0: Pick 1: Kaudern's Cardinal Yellowtail DamselNote: These will be in a school/shoal of 3 cards or 5 damsels Pick 1: scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp blood red fire shrimp Pick 3: tailspot blenny yellow watchman goby midas blenny McCoskers Flasher Wrasse royal gramma Pearly Jawfish all of these along with 2 ocellaris clowns Thanks again! I'm gonna get the whole school (or as much as possible) to vote on the listed inhabitants. I chose the clowns. Link to comment
DBTReefer
after doing some more research of the cardinal fish (the kauderns get really aggressive once mated) I have decided to make new tank stocking combos. This new way will ensure that there will not be any aggression. so, here are the new options: Option 1: 2 ocellaris clownfish 5 b/g chromis 3 chalk bass 1 kaudern's cardinal Option 2: 2 ocellaris clownfish 1 blue damsel 4 pajama cardinals 1 royal gramma 1 6 line wrasse (will be added LAST) Option 3: 2 ocellaris clownfish 3 yellowtail damsels 1 watchman goby 2 pearly jawfish (probably will get a mated pair from sealifeinc.net) royal gramma so what do you think? I have setup a poll to get an overall idea of what will win for my schools voting. Maybe I'll use this as a tiebreaker if it comes to that. Link to comment
animalmaster6
I like Opton 3! I would replace th damsels with anything! They are not nice peoplE! You should replace them with a few anthias or cardinals! Link to comment
DBTReefer
I love my damsels! But maybe I'll get 2 small anthia or a pair of kauderns. Thanks Link to comment

DBTReefer
the admins at school want to pick and so do some students. It is the schools tank after all, so I can sacrifice a bit. You def do not want to do 2 angels in that sized tank...they will def fight I would do just one and I can't think of any other ifsh that compare to an angel look at lgreens nano fish guide in the noob section for some ideas. HTH oh M i just saw your post! sowwy. Anyways I decided to drop the angels completely, just in case. I did visit Igreen's guide and it did help a lot. Thanks! Link to comment

DBTReefer
Im gonna show them a document with groups of the fish pictures. It would be WAY too complicated if I gave them names too. Link to comment

DBTReefer
i know! I think a tetrad of cards would be so cool. maybe its the red eyes... Link to comment
octoman
I think you should get a few anthias and a midas blenny. Link to comment
DBTReefer
the only problem with anthias is that they need to be fed many times in small quantities. I won't have time to do that. Also, many people that I have asked want clownfish and don't really know that there are many other cool looking fish to get. Link to comment
