bob21115
sounds good cant wait to get started on mine (building my own tank) After I paid for mine i thought I should build mine out of Starphire glass, but then I saw you have to use the same material as Eric. Link to comment
bob21115
I'm buying a DA Reef Keeper Elite for my larger system. I'll be using it on my 12" tank during the contest. I hope to use the network function to update my signature with the tank parameters. Plans for the Stand and Canopy Canopy No canopy plans going topless the Eco-Lamps LED is to sweet looking to hide. Stand I'd like to do a 1x2 frame and cover with a fake facade. Like the picture below. I'll be able to remove the facade to work on the Reef Keeper. I don't plan on putting in a door since the facade will slide off. I'll mount the RKE in the front of the facade. I want to find a piece of Marble to place on top of the stand and the tank on top of it. I've alway done the standard stands here are some of my stands: Link to comment

Watts
I'd love to know how the RKE works out with the networking stuff. I am interested in one of those myself. Link to comment

bob21115
dang nice tanks.... I had a thought that I wouldn't win the contest and now I KNOW i won't hahaha... Its easy to take care of tanks that are all on the same water system. At one time I had a total of 3000 gallons of water. Friday morning I had 1100 and friday night I was down to 800 total gallons. I wanted to do this contest to remember what it was like to do a AIO tank. Link to comment

bluefunelement
Nice stand! At first I thought you were planning a facade around the "cube" but this makes more sense and I like the extra moulding You got me thinking about the marble as a base - I was planning a very simple moulding base as the cube will sit in a bookcase - but marble might transfer heat out of the cube easier - do you think it'll have any effect on temp? I never thought about the temperature transfer to the marble. I know pastry makers like to use marble because it holds the cold. I'll have to do some research. Link to comment
bob21115
I just called about the marble and the need 2 to 3 weeks lead time and its going to be about $150. WOW Link to comment
Paleoreef103
You have a lot of tanks. They're all pretty absurd. Poison Dart frogs?! Really? That's awesome. Good luck with your cube build. Link to comment
bob21115
I did a search on Craigs list and found a guy the had some granite. He had some really cool colors but I think they were to thick. Here is a picture of a random piece to show how thick it was. Tell me what you think... This piece is 1 1/2" thick. I'm going to look for one thats 1/2" to 3/4" thick. The granite wont hang over the edge like in the picture. Link to comment
bob21115
I found a place locally cut and polished the size I need for $60. On top of that they say 2-3 day and I can pick it up. This is what it looks like Link to comment
