Tank_DEC09.jpg

Nothing on the Christmas list for the tank. All I'm looking to add is a Blue Spotted Jawfish, but no rush.

Still praticing the "hands off approach".

Water changes every 2 weeks or so. Do a test for Alk / Calc now and then.

Ph holds around 8.1 / Alk 10 / Calc 425(?) last time I checked...I forget. Probably time to check again.

So far so good. Rearranging as needed and finding the sweet spots for all the critters.

Tank takes care of itself, I just feed my 3 fish, keep the top off full, and feed the corals some shrimp when I think about it.

Thanks for looking.

So, I learned a lesson....

When ya move one rock, that leads to two, then three, then four followed by a few frustrated hours and a big wet mess.

The wife and kids take off to the grocery store or any store for that matter.

"Daddy needs some alone time to work on his tank"....

The upside....made a few frags in the process...lol.

This hobby is great isn't it?

Purchased from GC Reef here in Corpus Chrsti, TX.

Look em up online as well. Great shop.

Nice piece. How much did you pay, if I may ask? Nice growth on your SPS!

AND, just for filler......

This BN has grown from the size of a ping-pong ball to a softball

Another BN fast grower. Bit smaller than a ping-pong ball when I got it, close to baseball now.

Thanks.

I offered em a little food and he went right for it.....a good sign.

Hopefully he will settle in the "PVC home I made". Forgot where I saw that thread.

Either way, so far so good, but it's only been an hour.

Hands-off pays off quite well, it seems

Well to a point.

I checked my Alk / Cal / Mg params day after a WC, just for kicks, and they were on the low side.

So, I have begun regular dosing of Alk / Cal.

Seems with all the SPS, gonna stay thay way.

So, the "hands off" has now changed to "don't stress it"....lol

So, news for March 2010 -

Well, Bluespot went MIA for day and 1/2. Was found, well partially found that is...

Let's just say that my CUC is capable and willing.

No clue as to why the BSJF perished. Was eating well and getting along for all 4 days I had em....bummer.

Looks like a small YT is in order...

Anyways, some pics for March 2010.

Good looking tank, I would just be to worried about a fish getting stuck in the overflow, or even a snail. One clogged drain could be a bad day.

I really like the way you did your plumbing and overflow for this setup. I'm appreciating more and more how simple solutions are the best. I'll be moving into a dorm room for a semester, so I won't be taking my tank with me, but I have been thinking about upgrading to a 40B to give my parents a little more wiggle room while maintaining the tank. The whole idea makes me nervous.

Your tank is filling out beautifully. I imagine if you could resist the urge to add more, and just let things grow in, you would have something truly remarkable.

Thanks for the comments.

The pluming is simple, reliable and above all QUIET.

It's tough to resist temptation, but i manage.

Always room for Zoas / Rics....and maybe that cool Acro over at the LFS.....

And just a frag here or there...see what takes off and what doesn't.

thanks again
