hey
Yeah mine is a full frame. I mean it's totally your call, but the main reason I would rather have a 100 instead of a 150 is the working distance. Until I started trying these Brenizer photos the length was never a problem. It actually works pretty well as a portrait lens on my body. I just wish I could get closer to my reef tank to take macro shots (so I could rest the lens on the glass). Taking top down macros is also a nightmare since I have to be 1.5 feet away from the subject. hmmm, now looking at the 70 sigma or 85 nikon dx format lens... the dx is a pretty nice bargain asides from when i do go full frame its worthless. A question you may know, when crop factor is determined does that affect the minimum focus distance. IE does your 1.5 feet at full frame become 2.2 feet on a crop sensor? edit: figured out it doesn't as its only based on the distance of the sensor which is cool back to eyeballing the 105. Withers
More brenizer stuff. I'm getting better, I actually had to crop these way down just to get enough detail in the car showing, lol. Christopher Marks
Looking good man! I was first introduced to the Brenizer method for portraits, which always seemed crazy difficult to keep people still for so many shots. Have you tried it with anyone yet? With some practice you're probably getting faster. Link to comment
Withers
I haven't yet but I want to. Portrait photography is something I want to venture into but haven't really had a chance yet. I think the way people do it for portraits is to get most of the subject(s) in the first couple of shots, then move on to the background photos where it doesn't matter if they're still or not. I did the same for the first MINI shot, it was a super tight crop of the entire car. Withers
More tests. If there isn't a decent distance between the background and the subject the method doesn't really work (obvious now that I think about it) MINI [brenizer] by jasonwithers, on Flickr Link to comment
Withers
Krista and I pooled some of our savings together to get a good birding lens (tamron 150-600) and she's been killing with it ever since Blue Bird by Jason Withers, on Flickr IMG_7836 by Jason Withers, on Flickr Link to comment
