Addiction....

I swear that doing drugs HAS to be cheaper than nano reefing!! (it just has to!) I 've had my RSM for 3 months now and i just added up all of the SH** i have bought already and my grand total is $1136 bucks!! And that's not including the RSM itself! I thought smaller tanks were cheaper?!!

So My real question is how do I break the habit of buying things for my tank that i just "have to have"

is there any hope?? Or am I doomed like the rest of you??!

Youre doomed haha. Let youre coral grow and only give yourself a limit on how much you can spend say like 5% of youre check or something. Trading corals will also help you save on money.

A&E is planning on having a reefer on their "Intervention" TV show pretty soon. Guy was living on the streets but rented a storage facility for his reef tank. The guy was also dying of starvation but his fish tank parameters were perfect...lol

I added mine to $2300 including the RSM.

It's really a fraction compare to some other hobbies. I had to buy a truck to accomodate my mountain/road biking hobby. $22,000+ (including 2 mountain bikes and 1 road bike) :D

well for starters you COULD develop a bad drug habit

maybe heroin or oxycontin "hill billy heroin" something that gives you a good physical and mental addiction and then when you get good and hooked on that all your money will go towards supports your heroin habit and none of your money will go into anything new for the tank

then you can be high with something to look at lol

just dont get hooked so bad that you decide to pawn the fish tank to support the heroin habit because then you just ####ed up the whole plan i just set up for you lol

i get attached to my coral though....i dont want them to go play in some one else's coral playground.... :haha:

lol i say diy. i have 62g tank but if i add the sump and the refuge(have a sump and refuge in diffrent tanks) then i guess you can say about 75 gallons in total lol. but so far ive wasted $1050.00 and dont even have fish in there yet. not even lr lol. i can give a list lol watch this.

$184.01 62g tank

$89.99 Refractometer

$219.99 Buckeye 100gpd RO/DI

$159.99 wet/dry sump

$39.00 odyssea 550 gph pump which is badass and works like a charm

$15.49 hydrometer(before i got the refractometer)

$13.99x2 instant ocean salt(got 2 of these)

$36.99 200w stealth heater

$14.60 return pipe(i have one at each corner)

$43.29 glass top

$50.00 for my diy stand(saved $400 lol)

$100.00 80g tank that i broke in a week(very sad hate falling objects. i was so pissed at myself lol)

this is all with out tax and im getting my light fixture next week which is a other $329.00 and then after that my lr and ls and fish lol. so im almost going to be hitting 2 grand maybe soon lol. and this is all ive gotten so far for the past 4 months ive started this tank.

Oh and you have soo much more to go lol. Eventually you'll want test kits for everything. Calcium and Alk additives. Everything just adds up so fast. Maybe even a skimmer..

yup just ordered a chiller so im gonna need a pump for that and then i figured since the tank is gonna be cool no matter what, i might as well get some MH's and get rid of the stock lighting
