Man, your choices are limited to finding a RA that u can educate and pay to take care of it... or... Figure out how to move the tank (probably impractical) .. or... get a battery operated feeder that can hold enough food and a timer for your lighting... or... Go back daily to feed the fishes and spend most of your time DRIVING on your vay kay!

Im planning on bringing mine back (3 hours driving), its just a 10G, there are a few threads here about kids doing just that, moving their tanks. a search should cover it. Bag everything up separatly, and pack nicely into a styrofoam box, pretty much.

do you have a lfs that can take care of it for you for a month? $$$ and you're still hauling it to the lfs but i assume that's still better than taking it all the way back home or giving everything away.

btw congratulations! this is your first inkling of what's it's like to have children/responsibility.

it gets worst after this. :*( run, run fast, while you can.

If its a really small nano(like 10g or less) I'd bring it. Or you could get a "tank sitter" to take care of it while you're gone. Personally, I wouldnt trust anyone thats not in the hobby watching my tank for a whole month.

well, i had this problem last year. we were not allowed into the dorm for all of winter break. If you have a small setup and can bring it home with you(break it down and then put it back together) go for it. Otherwise look into finding people around your school who are reefers and might take care of your corals for you. I personally felt more comfortable breaking down my tank and i gave all my stuff to a friend. I then waited till i moved off campus this summer to start back up. Then my friend gave me some of the coral i gave him when i got started again. Just use your better judgment if you feel your tank might be at risk dont take that chance. I put over $400 into my tank(as I'm sure you have) at that point and wasnt going to waste that and all the time and effort i put into keeping my tank healthy just b/c i wanted it to be there when i got back.

alot of dorms are gonna require you to unplug everything for that month break which might screw ya-that is assuming you automated top off and feeding and what not! heat might also be an issue...i went to macalester college in st paul (aka the tundra) and i believe they lowered the building heat in addition to requiring that all electrical devices be unplugged. i'd urge you to try to take her home as big a PITA as that might be.

dude take it home. i do it all the time. its so easy and pretty much pointless not to. my new tank i just put on a piece of wood and drain a little of the water and take it home. i dont take any of the corals out or anything.
