uwwmatt
Once again a dreaded sponge question.......Bio29 with inTank media basket and fuge. Chaeto in fuge.... I still have the sponge in between 2 & 3 and rinsing out every 3 days. Remove it? if so how does one keep Chaeto out of pump if it flakes off or what-not? Lots of people will say remove it. I think if you stay on top of rinsing it out you will be fine. I left mine in when I used to run a biocube because cheato would break off and end up screwing up my pump. Every once in a while I would completely change it out. I used to buy the big block filter sponges for large HOB filters and just cut a little square from it as needed. Quote Link to comment
gabagool
Whats up everybody. Just read through just about the whole thread, some great ideas! Here is my story... I set up a fluval edge in December to satisfy my want for a tank in my bedroom, and it has left much to be desired, so I have searched craigslist for a biocube at a good price, and I finally found it. Picked up a 29 gallon cube on Tuesday. Overall it is in very good shape, just needs a little cleaning. Before setting it up, I have been pondering on how I would be setting the filtration up. Do you guys think the following will work? 1. Removing the bio balls from chamber 2 2. Adding the biomax that is used in the aquaclear HOB filters. Possibly 2 aquaclear 70 bags worth. 3. either directly over the biomax, or the tray that goes over the second chamber, using chemi-pure elite. 4. in the 3rd chamber, some sort of sponge, similar to aquaclear's. Seems like bio balls are not the way to go with SW setups, so I want to try to stay away from them. I am most familiar with the aquaclear filters, and I love the way they work, as I have 2 110's on my 75 gallon african cichlid tank. Would basically duplicating this work in the cube? superspec
has anyboody ever tried running 2 return pumps with 2 locklines? i was thinking about doing one pump for the surface movement and one to turn water around the bottom with 1 powerhead on a wavemaker. i have 2 evo 750 power heads now but they stir up to much sand and clutter the back wall. PoeticInjustice
Hey guys, I bought a used BioCube 29 and I would like to know, which is the default light that the fan should come on with, 10,000K daylight or actinic? I have tried searching for it anywhere including this thread but can't find it. I have a gut feeling that the previous owner switched it. Quote Link to comment
RedStang
Hey guys, I bought a used BioCube 29 and I would like to know, which is the default light that the fan should come on with, 10,000K daylight or actinic? I have tried searching for it anywhere including this thread but can't find it. I have a gut feeling that the previous owner switched it. I believe by default it was supposed to be white but many switched it because people generally have the actinic turn on earlier and off later. Should just be able to swap bulbs if you want to reverse it right? Quote Link to comment

altolamprologus
Forgive me if this has already been answered, but I didn't want to read through 40 pages. Is it ok to remove the false floor in chamber 2 after the tank has been setup? I would assume it's ok since it's in the water anyway but I wasn't sure if chunks of silicon would break free. BTW you can add my 29 biocube to the list. link: http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=266734 Edited November 14, 2011 by altolamprologus Quote Link to comment
metrokat
Hi everyone. I'm looking for step by step pictorial instructions on how to remove the stock PC's on a BC14 along with housing and wiring from the canope. Nanocustoms/nanotuners used to have these videos as part of their upgrade DIY but I can't seem to find them any more, Would appreciate the help. Thanks Quote Link to comment
csmith
Metrokat, are you wanting to remove everything? If so, just remove every screw you can find and pull everything out. Unplug all the wires, and clip the ones that don't unplug. There's nothing really tricky in there. --Colin Quote Link to comment
metrokat
Thank you colin, well after I do all of that, I want to be able to re-assemble it into a home made housing for a frag tank. Hence the pictures. So I can reverse it. Ya know? Quote Link to comment
superspec
i gutted my bc29 hood in less than 10 min and saved eveyhting so that it could be used in my bc14 hood. very simple to do. Quote Link to comment
metrokat
I can gut too. But I can't put it back together without pics. Red wires go where, black where, yellow where? Nanocustoms one video I found says cut this and discard. cut that and throw away. I need everything and to put it back the way it was, just in a different housing. Quote Link to comment

Have you tried asking in the NC sponsor thread for archived video tuts? Seems like it's still pertinent information. Maybe they'll let you FTP it. Who knows.
