alex101
I have a 34 gallon cube and I've had it running with skimmer as well as refugium in back. I was wondering if this is sufficient because 34 gallons is teetering on the verge of nano or not. Thanks Link to comment
StevieT
<40 is a nano, you're fine. Water changes are key, do them weekly if you are not. Link to comment
JBM
i would think thats fine! more is always better in my book ( as far as filtration ) Link to comment
alex101
I was just reading about keeping skimmers out of the equation for nanos. So I wasn't sure if I should just go skimmerless or if my tank size would recommend a skimmer as well Link to comment
StevieT
you don't "have" to have a skimmer (water changes help the most), but in your size tank, or any nano for that matter, they are very helpful. I would def. keep the skimmer, it isn't doing anything but helping. I have a 34 gallon RSM with a skimmer. Link to comment

makonut
Go with a skimmer if you can. I change 10% - 15% of my tanks water weekly (14 gallon tank) and the skimmer still pulls a lot of stinky brown junk out! Also, the skimmer adds a lot of oxygen to the water, helping to keep the oxygen level at saturation in the tank. Link to comment
