sdboogie
I bought this at the LFS for the shrooms on it. It opens about an eighth of an inch and spits stuff out of some tubes on the side. What concerns me are the little red hairs that appear to be reaching out for something to grab on to. I'm hoping it will stay stationary. I can't seem to find any matching pictures on the web. The top is a series of rough ridges that look like they could have been those tubes on the side at one time but only to have been abandoned by growth. Also how do I keep it alive. Does it have specific feeding needs? What are the long red hairs that retract doing? Thanx for the help. Link to comment
BlackSumbel
It looks like a scallop. Probably a flame/file scallop or something like that. Is the underside encrusted as well? If not, compare that to photograps of scallops online. They're filter-feeders, shouldn't be too huge of a problem, but you'd probably wanna treat it like a flame/file scallop. Phyto. -Sumbel. enrico
It's a Spondylus spp. I confirm it's a filter feeder, a far cousin of a scallop... Any filter-feeders food should be fine for it. Link to comment
