evilc66 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 That actually doesn't make much sense as it could actually hurt the numbers for LEDs. A single LED will never be able to compare to a high power MH or T5 bulb. LEDs get their strength in numbers, but only after the beam pattern overlaps at a certain distance. LEDs are a better performing light source per watt. Newer generation LEDs have broken the 100lm/W barrier that fluorescent and MH lighting has not done yet. Plus, PAR levels per watt are much higher. What is true is that the various manufacturers are playing word games and shifting the results in their favor (which any marketing scheme will do), making themselves look far better than they really are. Lucky for them they really do perform well, just not quite to the levels they are claiming.
