na temp isnt a problem my rooms rather cool.

its always at 79 and the tank fluctuates between 80 and 82.

i just pour in a shotglass of fw everynight before i go to sleep.

it replaces all the evaporated sw.

its effective for this little thing.

its a pain to test s.g. tho.

i have to shotglass the water into my hydrometer to test.

then just siphon via airline tubing back into the tank.

While these tiny little tanks always sound like fun, at the end of the day they seem to become too much work and the size really limits what you can do with it (you can only look at gsp for so long). Also If you leave for a weekend half of your water will be evaporated!

i know. thats one thing that worries me.

having to go out of town for some reason or other.

id come back to a half empty tank.

is half a gallon too small for a sexy shrimp?

Then I would go ahead and get a small lid on it, that should cut down on 90% of your evaporation, and you really should invest in a refractometer, they are highly accurate, you only need one drop of water to test SG and hydrometers can be off by .003 sometimes which can cause unhappy corals.

I don't think its too small for a sexy, but remember that they like to be kept in groups, I'm not too sure if you could keep 2-3 in there, probably so, but ya better ask the Sexy Shrimp Club just to verify :P

haha. ill ask.

yea. ive been wanting to get a refractometer not as much hassle as a hydrometer.

after i get payed and buy my mac tho.

ive been trying to save up but keep spending on my addiction to saltwater.

so i gota start saving.

Oh please... just GSP? I had a decoart aquavase (also 0.5G) with the 7watt 7200k light

I had a branching hammer (fragged it many times), Zoas, rics. It was my first saltwater tank and I had it up for 18months before transferring everything into my 20long.

I had a scarlet hermit and two astrea snails in there... maintenence was a slight top off every night, scrub the walls with a hardbristled tooth brush twice a week, and change 1 cup of water every week. I dropped 1 drop of Kent microvert twice a week. Later on (8months into it) I started dosing nano reef part A&B. It was a pretty sweet setup for being ridiculously small. I even had an emerald crab in there that got too big so I traded him in for 2 bumble bee snails.

im getting some frags sometime next week and they are more than likely go into here rather than my picotope.

Despite the fact I have now sold off all my sexies cus I'm moving and needed to break my tank down, as a religious follower and believer in the sexy club, my permission is granted to keep a trio in your tank. They really make absolutely no waste, have you seen the size of the things?

ive seen pictures. ive never seen one in person though

ive always wanted a pair though.

but just never got around to setting up a small pico for them so that they would stand out.

but now i have this!!!

so a trio would be ok?

i need to do my research

I've heard from many that they do best in odd numbered groups.

The tank looks really neat. B) I have been wanting a pico but did not want to pay $100 or more to start up a three gallon. I might do a little betta tank like you have. I know you have to do top-offs frequently, but the tank does not require as much attention as say a 20g would does it? I will deffinantly follow along.

A sexy trio looks nice. If you haven't seen them in person, you'll be surprise at how tiny they really are. But don't let their small size fool you, they're very tough, full of personality and not as fragile as you would think.

FishFreak77 i set this pico up for about um...i wana say less than 25$.

i bought the betta tank a few weeks ago and never opened it.

forgot about it really.

i had the filter already it cam with my picotope and i had the light already.

i originally boutgh a betta tank for a pico pictured in my first couple of posts but it sprung a leak and i didnt see it worth the money to fix it.

so i looked over onto my shelf and saw this in its box :]

it all cost around 26 dollars to setup.

its not much maintenance. just gota keep up with top offs.

usually a small shotglass of freshwater refills what evaporates during the day.

im not sure exactly.

petco had it advertised as misc. sw plants.

it was 2 dollars for about half a sandwich size bag.

its a bright red color and i liked the look of it so i bought it.

im trying to find the species but cant seem to narrow it down.

haha ddr_phish i have 2 picos next to my computer.

my picotope and this little guy.

i think im going to take down my picotope and transfer everything into my 4 gallon starphire rimless cube project that im working on.

the link is in my sig.

my picotope hasnt been runing long and it just finished its cycle. i think for now im going to keep it runnign as a stocking tank for my 4 gallon.

as for my .5 gallon pico.

im getting some corals tomorrow afternoon from six here on nano-reef.

once i get them acclimated and hopefully if they open ill post pics up for you all to see.

:]
