Kimberly63
My friend gave me a piece of this. It looks like xenia but it doesn't pulse and it's more of a stiff polyp that doesn't wave with the flow. Well it kinda waves but not a lot. This is my friend Steve's pic of his coral Link to comment
JediGobi
Looks like a small Purple Goniopora. I have one as well but it is a bit bigger. By any chance have you seen retract or extend farther out? Link to comment
abe
Looks like a small Purple Goniopora. I have one as well but it is a bit bigger. By any chance have you seen retract or extend farther out? not a goni for sure, not enough fingers on the end of the polyps. its a type of xenia for sure... there are other types than pulsing by the way... EDIT: this is a purple goni for reference Link to comment
brian92
Looks like anthelia thats acclimating to the tank it'll get bigger Link to comment
Nick's Reef
I say clavuria of some sort. Link to comment
matty0206
Looks like anthelia thats acclimating to the tank it'll get bigger +1...........That aint no goni! Link to comment
gulfsurfer101
Not a flowepot or goni as stated above, looks more like some type of exenia that isn't happy from the move yet. Give it time and it will come around and you'll be able to get a better ID on it. Link to comment
JediGobi
I know what they look like, is it quite possible that it is a smaller one like really small? Link to comment
TheCuban1040
Anthelia would be my guess Link to comment
Kimberly63
yes, my piece is very small - each stalk is about .5 inch or less Link to comment
VannReefer87
Anthelia is my guess as well! Link to comment
SPS20
It has 8 tentacles at the end of each polyp, not 12 or 24 so it can't be an Alvopora or a Goniopora. It looks like Cespitularia to me, or perhaps Anthelia. I'm leaning toward Cespitularia Link to comment
pwoller
Some sort of Xenia. I actually have a colony of them that looks just like yours. I bet they will open up a bit more after they get used to the tank. Mine never pulse. Link to comment
h3llc4t
I believe it's xenia. It lacks the branched appearance of the anthelia stalk ends. I have what may be the same xenia morph; it gets cranky and bunches up but starts pulsing away after a few hours. Link to comment
teddyb
a very stressed xenia. a xenia that has been through it. Link to comment
