jewbilee Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...mp;pcatid=14790 Just curious as to if anyone uses these. I have a feeling most of you will recommend just regular test kits but I figured this was worth a shot
bluebastion Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 What you feel, would be correct. Most of us would recommend a decent chemical test kit. I say decent, because not all are created equal.
justbob Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 What's the consensus on the API Calcium kit? I love the nitrate and the kh kit - quick and simple. However, my CA is always reading 440 or in this range with the API, when my Salifert kit will read 390. I think salifert has a reputation for being most accurate. I'm thinking of trying an ELOS ca test kit.
Sexy Shrimp Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I used to use API but have now switched to JBL (comes with all testing kits in a snazzy case - lab in a box!). API are good while you're still learning but I think everyone progresses away fro them eventually. They're also cheap when you're seeing out I use the sick on ammonia alert - simply because it gives you forwarning if somehting has died behind the rockwork
