Ok well I was planning on setting up a 75 gallon but I decided just to go a head with and go bigger with a 90. I am planning on getting it started within the next 2-6 months. I really Want this tank to be very clean and bright.

So here is what i got for a 90 Gallon(RR).

Equipment:

1 Model 3 Megaflow sump

2 200 watt Visi-term heaters(one in over flow and one before return pump)

1 Turboflotor 1000(up to 250 Gallons)

2 Koralia 4's (maybe 3)

1 20 Gallon Refugium(later on)

Lighting:

Undecided(HELP!)

Livestock:

2 Ocellaris Clowns

2 Yellow Watchmen Gobies

1 Blue Jaw Trigger

1 Radiant Wrasse

Wanting 1 tang but want it to be interesting and not as common as a Yellow Tang.

I need help with lighting and need a cool tang?

also I would really enjoy other peoples 90 gallon tank pics!

Tell me what you think of the plans.

Have you seen a chocolate tang? They look like yellow tangs as juvies but then become amazing. Also called false yellow tangs.

go with a kole tang as u said.. and with lighting why not go t-5s.. is it going to be SPS? if not you can do with just CFs. But for a really neat look of the shimmer, you should go with halides.

dude make your own sump/fuge it is so easy and much cheaper than buying one. Just go get a 20g/30g tank and get some acrylic or glass cut and just silcon it in.

Return pump?

i would suggest a GenX mak 4 or a little smaller. I have one on my 150g and it is quite and cool.

Lighting definately 2x250w halides, possibly on lumenarcs

Tang: I have always liked purple tangs, i have one and she is so purdy.

the korlias are good just need two

probably don't need two heaters my 150 runs with one 300w heater.

Primo I have never heard of them before I will have to research about them. Thanks!

Well I was looking and i think t-5's would be great here is a system i was looking at http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...mp;pcatid=18700

324 watts It looks like a pretty solid system.

I could probably get away with some sps?

I'll keep the return pump in mind!

Purple tang sounds good still keeping all options possible.

I was thinking of just doing 2 heaters for better heat distribution it makes me feel more comfortable that way.

I also am not a good DIY guy I would much rather spend the cash to know its safe and stable.

Has anyone ever had any experience with this light?

Nova Extreme Saltwater Pro

I figure eventually if I need to I can add 2 250 watt halides maybe or 2 150's?

I'd check out the Outer-Orbit fixtures also. They seem to be of a bit higher quality than the Novas do.

I have a juvenile chocolate tang on hold at my LFS until I set up my bigger tank. It's an awesome fish full of personality. It does take a while for them to mature. They will stay yellow for over a year, close to two years then they'll start to change. But it's well worth the wait.

I 2nd the idea of the outer orbit. The nova's are nice, but after having my coralife t-5 fixture fail last week I've done some research into the HO units. I think the outer orbits are the way to go, but if you want a nova go with the nova pro.

I would personally go with 2x250 or 2x400 MH moguls. There is a wide selection of colors. 400's might be pushing it, but it's possible. Supplement with t5Ho actinics and you're golden.

Now that I look at it I like the outer orbits a lot.

I think I should do fine with just the 150 watt

I don't really want to spend 800 on a fixture.

529 watts is a pretty solid it's roughly 5.9 watts per a gallon.

Also Primo I may try to buy a little bit older Chocolate Tang just to reduce the wait.

Thanks for telling me about it.

True, but I just meant I could add some halides if I needed it.

But I think I'll gonna go with the outer orbits

if u have a canopy.. retrofit a halide into it ( i know u said ur not a DIYer but anyways.. just my.02).. you can go to hellolights and get a halide or t-5.. i would rather customize my lighting than go with a stock brand.. either way dont go nova extreme.. i heard they have a single reflector.. not individual ones and t-5s are not productive w/o individual reflectors.

Yea I would much prefer the outer orbit I know I could save money and stuff but my luck is I would spend mpore money trying to fix what I made than what I would spend on a system.

I am sorta caught with the tang I think I would rather have a Kole eye just due to their size. I really would like happy fish and the Chocolate Tang and the Chevron may need a little more room when it's full grown.

I am planning on having this tank set up for more than 3 years at least and hoping to eventually get the TOTM!

lol, this is only a 90g. acantharus is out of the question. zebrasoma or bristletooth will be happy in this tank though.

i vote chevron tang or purple tang. kole tangs never hit the spot for me.

this is Nano-Reef... one of the qualities of a TOTM on here is your tank should be a nano-reef...

yea like I just said in my last post I want to go with something smaller than the Chocolate.

Also by TOTM I meant a tank that would be very mature, colorful, and sleek. I just want the tank to be one I can be proud of. I sorta worded it wrong in my last post.

I want the tank to be everything that classifies as a TOTM tank.

Equipment Update

-FLOW-So I have decided that instead of the Koralia's, I will be doing my own closed loop system to avoid dead spots and to provide better flow for my corals.

For pumps I will most likely be using 2 Oceanrunner 2500's.

I am also thinking about purchasing a ReefKeeper 2 it seems like a really useful product.

-LIGHTING-I will be using the Outer Orbit, HQI, CF, Lunar Fixture. A total of 560 Watts- 2 150 Watts Halides, 2 130 Watt Compact Fluorescents, 6 Lunar Lights

But I will be buying it from aquariumguys they have it for $150 cheaper!

Aquascape Update

For Aquascape I will be doing multiple islands to maximize swimming space and to make the tank more unique.

So I was thinking and I was looking at salts.

Whats the best salt for a reef?

I have always used Instant ocean before but I was wonder does the salt you use make that big of a difference?

Want to start the tank out right!

What do you guys use?

Thanks
