Kittysnax Posted January 20, 2010 Share Posted January 20, 2010 +1 on the Flourish Excel My Planted tank was so insanely easy to start up. Im only running 1.8 wpg and keep everything alive in here. I have 6 cories and a TON of red cherry shrimp. The biggest tip I found was to add as many plants as possible at the beginning...I actually didnt even HAVE a cycle. There hasnt been a single ammonia spike or anything...and I tested everyday for a good month! LOL! my FTS: (it isnt as yellow as the pic shows, it WAY green) Link to comment

After a recent move I had a few lps loses...now my BC has pretty much taken a crap- the toggle switch for the lights don't work, stuff inside the canopy is warped, both fans died, and I've had about enough of crappy pc lights... SO I'm getting a 20 long (petco dolla gallon sale HOLLA) I'm just deciding on lighting now- T5 for sure- I was thinking on a 30" fixture but those are usually only 48 watts only so I was thinking either: Fishneedit 24" 4 x 24w= 96 watts Fishneedit 36" 4 x 39w = 156 watts Suggestions??? Um...I got another cat so here's a pic BUT LIGHT SUGGESTIONS PLEASE! there will be a 3 inch overhang on each side for the 36 inch but the extra 60 watts seems worth it... Link to comment

A larger light just looks funky...... thanks I did think the bigger light would look odd...I ordered the 24" 4 bulb 96 watt and it's on it's way to me now! I got 14000k and actinics so I hope it's nice and blue but not too blue Link to comment
