Should I go SMALLER?!

Going in the opposite direction of most reefers I have a 20g tall that I use for my reef (which is starting to come along very nicely) and a 10g that isn't in use... I was think recently about drilling the 10g and building a nice stand for it... by consolidating all of my 20g into the 10g I'll have a deeper sand bed (which is something I would like) more LR per gallon (only have about 1lb per gallon now, so figure 2lbs per gallon in the 10) better filtration more water flow and better lighting (the light I have now would hang over by about 2" on each side... which doesn't look that bad, I tried it out)...

My question to you guys is if you think it's worth it? It would save my money and get me the tank that I'd like without having to spend too much extra $$$ which I don't have.

No one cares, eh? Maybe I should have posted in another board.

it's just not... very interesting.

you want to go from a 20g to a 10? that's like asking if you should wear the blue socks or the black socks today. :)

if you want to give it a try then do it. report back when you have some pics. :P

EDIT: i just saw your 20 thread... based on how little rock you have, unless you're planning to double what you have then go ahead and do the 10. :P

I've done this to make room for non reef safe creatures that need a larger tank. It makes your tank looked fully stocked with out having to buy more stuff since you already have it. Ijust try not to mess with thing too much though. I've got everything on timers and ato's so when I come home from being gone for a while I notice lots more growth.

Yeah my tank has a bunch of zoanthids and xenia growing in it atm but I don't really have the money to double the lr and I'd like a slightly deeper sandbed as well... so I was thinking it'd be nice to drill a 10gal and build a stand (being as I've never done both) and safe to start with a small cheap tank :P of course I'd be documenting the whole process and posting it step by step on the forums here.

I've decided on going with a 10g and I have all of the supplies to drill and plumb the new tank. I'll be posting the step by step pictures sometimes in the (hopefully) near future when I do so. I'll also be building a stand and posting pix of that as well :) I'm so excited!
