GioReef
It was totally silent about 2 days ago and now it rattles. Like every minute it rattles for 25 seconds and then stops. Then it starts again. It is full of coralline algae so that might be the problem. But at the same time i dont want to loose the algae around the "ribs" when i clean it. Do you think cleaning it will stop the noise? If it will then i will find a way to keep most of the coralline alive... Thanks Link to comment
HecticDialectics
The algae could be throwing it out of balance, or could be weighing down the prop enough to make it hard to spin via the little motor they have, or the algae on the ribs could be hurting the flow to the prop, which could also cause rattle.. I'd just clean the whole thing... Link to comment
GioReef
All right. Should i clean it with tap water or old tank water? Link to comment
Matty1124
you can take them apart... viniger and water soak will clean them up good as new... they have to be taken apart periodicly to clean the magnet and shafts of the prop... sometime stuff gets sucked in there and can throw it off balance Link to comment
GioReef
So after the soak should i rinse it with tap water to get access stuff off? The soak will probably kill the coralline... so will it turn white? Link to comment
diggman08
mine used to do that... just unplug it and plug it back in... that should fix the problem Link to comment
Matty1124
viniger will disolve calcium and strip the coralline off... yes rinse it off well before you put it back in your tank... Link to comment
GioReef
I tryed unplugging it and then waiting 5 minutes and it stopped. If it starts again i will clean it. Link to comment
