"Cheap" 20G/24" T5HO fixture?

Cheap... you have a few options. But good, that depends on your definition of good... :P

You can pick up a nova extreme for $150, but they aren't exactly top of the line, or even middle of the line T5 fixtures. What kind of coral do you want to keep? It'd work fine for softies, lps. Some well-placed low and medium light sps at the very top would probably be ok (but could also probably be happier).

The idea behind this tank was that I was going to try my hand at keeping SPS, so some LPS, shroom or two, and some hardier SPS's to try.

I have a DIY 175w MH fixture, but its kind of boxy and ugly. I was thinking maybe just starting from scrach and doing T5HO as I like them better... but even 24" HO is typically only 96w, unless I do 6 bulb, which would be a DIY, and then I'm back to a less attractive item.

I think you'd be ok on some of the lower light sps, which also tend to be easier to keep in general, like monti caps and digita, poccilipora, etc.

It's going to be hard to find anything else without a pretty substantial (doubling? :P ) increase of your budget. You might want to check some of your local forums and on here for used T5 fixtures like Tek or Aquactinic. You might be able to get a great deal on one.
