Uhuru Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Hey guys, Has anyone ordered a custom tank from these guys? They are based in Canada, and their prices are extremely reasonable. I mean Glass Cages reasonable, but the service and quality seems much much better. Their website goes by the same name as the company. They were very quick to respond to my request and seem to know what they are doing. I'm actually really surprised I haven't heard their name before, until I saw them mentioned on a local forum as an awesome company to deal with (by one member). His tank looked great too. The quote I got for a 155g 60x30x20H tank with black silicone, eurobracing and external overflow was $589. 12mm glass on sides, 15mm glass on bottom, plywood mounted and compression foam underneath.
Scott Riemer Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 You should call Sharkeys Aquariums. http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...=160313&hl=
Uhuru Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Haha, he should've hired an actor like they do at Geico. Back on topic though, here is the website for concept aquarium systems: www.conceptaquarium.com LMK what you guys think!
dopamine Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 envy. love the built in tall 150g at the bottom of those stares.
Uhuru Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 yeah they have some pretty nice tanks in that gallery, and the one I saw in my local forum was really nice too. I think I may go with these guys, I'm just surprised no one has heard of them.

Looks nice did you get Starphire glass? I am in the process of finalizing an order with them today and am curios how everything went after they received your money? Have you put water in it yet? Eric

I am in the process of finalizing an order with them today and am curios how everything went after they received your money? Have you put water in it yet? Eric Cool! How did you hear about them? Please keep us updated on how this turns out for you. What dimensions are your tank? What options did you go with? I did not get a quote for starphire. I'm on a tight budget, and that's a luxury I can't afford right now. BTW just to clarify those pics I linked to are not of my tank, that's a local forum member. I got an email from him and he said he was very happy with everything, except he wishes he did a coast to coast overflow. But he said the quality was great, packing was great, customer service was great even after making several changes. I'm going to ask him for some more pics.

I found them online wile I was looking for another company up in Canada and gave them a call thinking they had changed there name. They seem to be easy to work with and very helpful I hope the tank is as good as the customer service I have received so far. The tank is, 70x32x24 230ish gal external overflows plumbed for a CL system 6 1" holes on the bottom and 2 on the back along with 2 CL drains Starphire front viewing pane and a blue background. Eric
Uhuru Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 Hey Eric I just got another email from the guy with a Concept tank, he said the main thing is to make sure you specify the size of the overflows, or they might make them too small. Just thought I would pass that along. He's going to send me more pics of his tank tomorrow.
Nikon187 Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Great tanks all around. i know cuz i have a custom 78 braceless from them. Also check out aquarium illisions, thats the retail store for concept. they also have A website
Echris Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Nikon187, Does yours still have the black trim around it? I ordered mine with euro bracing but it still has the trim.
Uhuru Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 that sucks Echris, I would like to know how they respond to their messup chances are you can remove the black trim yourself, you might have to give it a while to make sure the silicone is fully cured though

Nikon187 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 yes it does still have the trim...i do have pics but they won\t load for some reason..I'll try again. definetly legit, because i work for aquarium illisions. http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk206/nikon1879/ try that. also through in a shot of the big 460 rimless/ braceless at Aquarium Illisions just for fun.
Uhuru Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 so I take it these guys know what they're doing: Eric when you ordered the tank did you specifically say "no trim," because when you look at the order form it looks like just because you order eurobraced doesn't mean it's going to be trimless. I'm going to make sure they know I want trimless. Anyways it's nice to see that there is an option other than glasscages that will do custom tanks without charging an arm and a leg.
Nikon187 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 we can pretty much make anything within reason..yes please specify trimless with your euro bracing or it will have trim. There are a couple pretty big tanks made by concept here in Edmonton.
Echris Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Uhuru "that sucks Echris, I would like to know how they respond to their messup" Nope not there messup! I didn't ask for no trim as i thought it would make the glass thicker and add to the cost and I am already over budget. Anyway it is going in the wall so no one will see it unless they go into the room an I kinda like the support i think the trim will give the tank. Although... Nikon187 Nice tank and after seeing the one in the store it kind of makes me want to change to trimless if the build isn't to far along and it wouldn't change the glass thickness. Do you know if it would change the glass thickness to go trimless or would they just leave off the trim? I am thinking the trim is there for support reasons? Echris
wav3form Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 What about shipping? Do they ship from canada or do they have a facility in the USA?
Echris Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 What about shipping? Do they ship from canada or do they have a facility in the USA? They ship from Canada But do have resellers in USA I think.
Uhuru Posted June 22, 2008 Author Posted June 22, 2008 I got my quote from them directly, and they included shipping from Canada. The tank itself is actually cheaper than from glasscages, but add shipping and customs charges and it comes out to be a bit more... but still significantly less than say aquarium obsessed or miracles (not saying those companies don't make very nice tanks though). Echris - I think I read on their site somewhere that if you go rimless the glass will be thicker. However, with the eurboracing I don't think you need the trim at all and it shouldn't change the thickness of the glass.
Nikon187 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 it all depends on the height of your tank. I'm sure i could take the trim off seeing as my glass thickness is 1/2 inch. ( my 78 weighs like 190lbs ) But i believe euro bracing would be fine. Shipping is possible anywhere in North America
Echris Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 After talking to them I decided to stay with the trim for structural integrity. To get it flush with the wall I will cutaway 1/8" of drywall. Here is the CL and overflow setup I am having them drill. My sump returns will be going over the top to 2, 3/4" Sea Swirls. Hole_placement2.bmp Echris
