Aqua newbie Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I got a very unique specimen of a toadstool mushroom. I'm sure I got it for a good deal. Two heads one splitting. Got it from Coral Oasis for $40 and a very nice plate coral for 10. These people also gave me a free Atomic Green Zoanthids frag. Im sure I won,t kill the toadstool, but I need help to keep it as healthy as can be. Thanks I don't know if this helps, but ...................I'm keeping it in a 28 gal. tank under 130 watt PC lights.
airangel Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I don't do anything for mine, got mine from seller on saltwaterfish.com for 10 and 6 to ship. Mines under 70w MH, away from the other corals, read someplace about potential compatibility issues I think. From Live Aquaria on Toadies
BibleSue Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Nice Toadstool. I got mine from Prop. It just sits there & grows. Just don't get stuff too close to it as it might sting.

Urchinhead Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Do you know if different leathers will sting each other - like a finger leather and Fiji yellow? thanks, hank From experience... Yes. I had my fiji fall onto my toadstool and kill it. I thought the fiji would kick off being the supposed weaker of the two types but all it did was turn a light green for a few days, burb, and go back to being yellow again albeit a bit darker in color. The toadstool on the other hand died within the week.

Urchinhead Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Ouch! Thanks for the data point. I guess I better locate these accordingly. thanks, hank Yeah. I wasn't a happy camper. It was when I was still running my RSM. IF you look at my old tank thread photos you can see where the fiji was in relation to the toad. My urchin, not his fault, went motoring on by and knocked the fiji directly on top of the head of the toad. It stayed that way for probably about 8+ hours or so and both let off all kinds of junk into the water which also caused the finger coral to shrink badly as well as to royally piss off the blastos and brain. Clam wasn't bothered nor were the zoa's for whatever reason. I really thought the fiji would get the worst of it because its supposed to be the least hardy of the three but that wasn't the case.
