jm82792
So I have my AP,I have 20 pounds of Ocean Direct LS and would like to know if a 2 inch sand bed is too much/ I am clueless other than deeper sand collect detritus but there are benefits. What should I do on this ? So should I use my whole bag or just use like half or Link to comment
aquascaper08
a 2 inch bed may be just a bit much but will work. Link to comment
Naturalreef
Not so convinced on the benefits of a deeper bed in a nano... The bigger the sand bed, the more water displaced. I went from a inch and a half sand bed in my other tank to a half inch in my new tank which I like much better. But it really comes down to asthetics unless you have sand dwelling critters which need a deeper bed...which "look" do you prefer? Link to comment
jm82792
I have no clue I have minimal preferences I'd love to eventually buysea cucumbers and all those sand burrowing organisms but on the other hand I do not want negative effects. What I'm saying is I'd rather use all the sand but if there are significant negative effects I'll go shallow. Asthetically speaking I don't care,I'm trying to be practical The bed if I use the whole back should be an inch. (I mixed things up not 2 inches, dyslexia. The bag was saying 2 inches a gallon if I did 2 pounds a gallon duh) Whats the "typical" sand bed depth for the average nano ? Link to comment
aquascaper08
Mine is about 1 inch and don't have any problems. Link to comment
jm82792
I'm going one inch the black rim on the bottom of my AP24 hides most of the sand anyways.. Thanks Link to comment
