Naturalreef
Hey Sil, First, Welcome:) Not sure which model you are looking at, but Oceanic has a Biocube 8, 14, and 29 gallon tanks. I have the Biocube 8 gallon and put a hydor flow on the outlet and also changed the pump to a Minijet 606 and it is perfect flow all throughout the tank. I have a stealth 50 watt heater that fits perfectly in the first chamber as well. Just place the heater in the first or third chamber and there is a cutout in the back off the hood where the other wires are channeled out. Go to Oceanicsystems.com for sizes and dimensions of their line-up of Biocube's. They are great little tanks and imo better quality than jbj (other than the jbj hqi 28 which seems well built). Any other questions, fire away:) Welcome to this addiction called reef-crack.... Nick Hi im thinking about buying an oceanic biocube. I dont know how big the tank was i think 12? it was around 130$. sil80guy
thanks for the info, I heard that I should take out the bioballs and add macro algae where the bioballs were originally. Link to comment
Naturalreef
Yes, bioballs are out..Live rock will take care of the filtration. Macro Algae(Chaeto) after your cycle is done on a reverse light cycle in the second chamber works well. thanks for the info, I heard that I should take out the bioballs and add macro algae where the bioballs were originally. sil80guy
whats a reverse light cycle? Link to comment
sen5241b
whats a reverse light cycle? You have the stock light in the main tank on 12 hours and another little light in the back for the macro algae on the other 12 hours. The idea is that you always have some light on 24 hours so that you get photosynthesis of beneficial phytoplankton. Link to comment
sil80guy
oh ic thanks for the info, I guess im gonna have to look for a desktop lamp of some sort. Link to comment
wmo168
If you going to buy it make sure you pick up a newer STOCK from your LFS, I got a old stock and my BALLAST for one of the light broke!!! After I got it last month. Make sure they are not 0607 0606 batch on the ballast. IT has a code on the back.. in the plastic ... I got a replacement from them which took over a week to mail under warranty.. Their ballast are known to have issue... otherwise is a GREAT TANK Link to comment
