momma2kd
Hey guys!! I'm new to nano reefing! I just finally added my first clownfish to my fully cycled tank. I was just wondering if it is possible if there is too much flow for my clowns or if they are just getting acquianted with the tank. They will only stay at the top 2 inche of the tank. When I had the moon lighting on last night on the the clowns was just pressed against the side of the glass swimming in the same spot. They are healthy, they are eating nicely. Sorry for the long post just trying to make them happy. PS: They are maroon clowns, one gold stripe and a white strip. Thanks in Advance!! Link to comment
aquascaper08
Give them a couple of days to get aquainted with the tank. Clowns are very fun fish and do wierd stuff sometimes. Once they get settled down they will act more like "normal fish". One of my two is hostin a powerhead and the other is hostin my open brain. Great to watch!!! Link to comment
qbical
sounds like they were just taking an evening snooze perhaps since they were together. i have one that stays in the upper corner of my tank (female kind of makes him stay there) and the other is always in the bottom corner in my BTA. i am not too sure about the flow though. i mean i have med to low flow and they seem pretty happy, but i have read threads where high flow was not so good for the clowns. idk im still kinda a fish noob so Link to comment
momma2kd
Thanks!! I'll stop worrying until they look like they arent doing well! I guess they are just silly little fish! Gotta Love em! Link to comment
fishwish
I would be more concerned with having 2 clowns in the same tank. If they are not a mated pair (male/female) they could go to war. The loser will be killed. Keep a close eye on them. Link to comment
hazmat
My two stayed in the upper right corner (near the power heads) for a long time! I mean like a month or so. Now they venture more around the tank but they still like that corner. and they sleep on the mag float at night. My male will actually lie down sideways on the mag float and sleep. I almost want to give him a blanket!! I think clowns like flow. Mine will get right in front of the power heads and the Koralia and swim against the current like crazy. they seem to enjoy it! As far as having one kill the other. I have posted this a few times so here it goes again....I bought my pair together with one being bigger than the other. they were fine for about 2 months and then started fighting. The male totally beat up the female to the point where I thought she was going to die. But they worked it out and now she is fine. Growing back her fins and getting her color back. So I guess she is the he now and he is the she. does that make sense?? . So even if they fight for dominance it doesn't necessarily mean death! I hope that helps. They are crazy little fish! aquascaper08
As far as them being a maited pair goes....The one that is larger will become the female and be the dominate one in the tank. They will have some confrontation but she won't necessarily kill him. Just make sure there a couple of different caves or hiding places for them and they will be fine. My two in a tank that has been up for a long time do fine but were not a maited pair. She is pushy but he is doing great. Link to comment

Just like you my tank fully cycled about a week ago and I added 2 fasls perculas yesterday and they did the same thing. They seem healthly enough eating, etc, at night they just hung out in the corner of the tank. Don't they get tired of swimming. I'm worried they are going to get stressed. Link to comment
