MiddReef
Alright, so after some textbook sales, I've found an additional $180 to upgrade my AP24, which is currently acclimating to a new 150 W sunpod. Anyways, what do you guys think would be a more worthwhile upgrade, a CPR aquafuge (medium) HOB or a higher end ATO? I'm really considering a 2 switch ATO system from autotopoff.com hooked up to a MJ, which I could easily hide underneath my tank stand. It seems like my evaporation rate is about to take off with the new open top/halide approach. I'm just wondering if adding a aquafuge is really worth the money. I haven't had any huge problems with water chemistry (knock on wood), but from what I read increased volume and nutrient processing are always a plus. Since I have no awesome journal with sweet pictures currently running, my system includes: 24 Gallon Aquapod, 150 W Sunpod, Sapphire AP24 Skimmer, Filter Floss and LR rubble in back chambers. ~40 lbs of live rock. -Assorted Soft/lps/ corals -3 recently acquired SPS frags -Rapidly growing and Deresa clam -Bangii Cardinal, True Perc, Cleaner Shrimp Thanks! -MR Link to comment
121a
look for a used JBJ ATO, they are really good, never heard of one failing. As for the fuge, just put some cheato in the back chambers or something. Link to comment
MiddReef
Yeah I installed one of those JBJ's on a larger system once, but I'm attracted to the simpler ones (and their price). Maybe I'll look into the back chamber Chaeto now that I have an open top, just toss a small PC fixture back there and hope for the best! The HOB is just attractive to me because then I could run the skimmer in the back chambers and hide the heater somewhere else where I don't have to worry about fluctuating water levels dropping below the heater.
