CorvetteJoe
It seems my Ceriths are laying eggs. I found them like this on the glass this morning. Quite interesting. Anything I should expect, should I clean them off or let them be? Will the fish or CUC eat them? Should I protect them with something? ***edit: one is done and back down in the sand. The other one is still laying away. it looks like they didnt get them all stuck down very well, there are two strings flowing in the current off the side. Link to comment
Elite Twit
Mine used to lay them all the time when i had the 7g set up, but I never saw much other than them on the glass. I think my other snails and fish got to them. They would only be up for a few days then disappear. Link to comment
CorvetteJoe
my pep shrimp was hungrily stuffing them in his mouth as fast as he possibly could the other day. Then the big emerald found some floating pieces and was stuffing them in his mouth but eventually spit them out. I guess its like caviar to them LOL My wife shooed the shrimp away with the "bad stick" and he was reluctant to leave, but finally ran off to hide. Link to comment
spanko
IME Cerith snail eggs are in more of a zig-zag pattern. While I am pretty sure those are some type of snail-slug egg probably not Cerith. Here is a picture. Link to comment
CorvetteJoe
It was definitely the ceriths. The ones in the picture were the ones laying them. One finished and went back to the sand. The other was there about 1/2 the morning still and continued on. It finished and went back in the sand later as well. The eggs are still there almost a week later. The shrimp ate a few but has left them alone now. Link to comment

I was not sure if an army of snails would be something "good" or "bad".... although, I guess it could be good snacks for the shrimp and sixline. Perhaps it would be a good thing. Link to comment
CorvetteJoe
Dang snails are horney! Theres more egg trails down the back sides of the tank now too! I think the crabs are in on it. If the eggs hatch and there are new snails, then the crabs can take over the shells of the big ones and not feel so bad for eating them LOL. Link to comment
