Orange Coraline Algae.

I spotted this color in my aquarium that I've never noticed before. I like it. Is it coraline? If it is, how can I get it to populate other areas of my aquarium? Would it be too difficult with the dominate purple coraline?

I have some too, but it gets overpowered by the purple.

yes, there's orange and a number of other colors, e.g. red, pink, green, blue, yellow, etc. there are some "bad" colors too, e.g. black & yellow. but usually they point to illness/dying of the coralline.

i've read that sometimes the orange color is a "leaching effect" of iron from inside the rock or substrate. not sure what the chemical/mechanical processes are to create that though. and even if so, i don't believe it's a dangerous or problematic issue.

I bought a frag off Six a couple years ago and it came with several colors of coralline, including a bright orange. Didn't last long under my low-powered lighting though. :(

Any tips on getting it populated in other places in my aquarium? Or is it doomed due to the dominate purple algae?

My orange and a red colored coraline took off right after I put the tank together (within the first month or two), but now at 9 months is is almost totally covered up by the purple and teal that I have.

I want my teal back :( I had a small area about the size of a Powerade cap that the purple took over. The best coraline I've seen so far.

I have a tank full of green coralline. It seems to be beating the purple at this time. From what I have been told purple coralline will eventually dominate.
