OceanNano
can anyone help id this i think they are eating my zoos ? I cant tell what it or they are but you can always do a fresh water dip with some iodine added to kill unwanted stuff....Worked for me. Link to comment
masterbuilder
I have had some of the larger pods eat zoa's. Get a fish that will eat the pods...problem solved very quickly. Link to comment
GrandeGixxer
The pods don't eat the zoas unless the zoa is already dying. Those are common amphipods. Spiders and nudis will eat the zoa though. Correction, they are not amphipods, but they look like harmless pods. Link to comment
Lalani
nasone, do you see the three tall white things sticking out the top? I believe those are hydroids, and I have seen some kill several zoas in one of my tanks. I would remove them and see if the zoas recover. Link to comment

kennyboy019
+1 for hydras. I had a good forest of them in my tank at the beginning, and they irritated the hell out of everything that came near them! My GSP wouldn't even get close to them. Link to comment
matty0206
Even my snails avoid my hydroids like the plague! Link to comment

tomshannon
The "pods" in the photo are isopods. The ones you have are algavores... the more algae they graze, the more green their bodies become... like in the picture. Frankly, I don't understand why folks insist on calling these critters, and their ilk, "bugs". A bug is technically an insect of the order Hemiptera.... go figure. Anyhow, simple rule of thumb on differentiating amphipods from isopods: An isopod is dorso-ventrally flattened; i.e., squished like it was stepped on from above. An amphipod is laterally flattened; i.e., squished sideways. Link to comment
