Naturalreef
Hi, I searched and checked out various Biocube 8 threads and couldn't find what I'm looking for. Who knows the best way to cut the 2nd chamber lip to allow more flow? I'm looking for the cleanest cut, so it won't inhibit the flow. Dremel? what type of dremel blade? etc.. Thanks for the input! rhogeo
I used a strong box cutter and a pair of snips. Looks ok, of course I don't care too much about the looks since nobody really sees it back there.... Link to comment
Naturalreef
Thanks for the reply rhogeo...I guess I need to change the wording a bit..looking for the cleanest cut so there will be no jaggies so it won't inhibit the flow. dopamine
Snips if you have life in your tank....When I took the little shelf out that holds my filter floss and dremeled it in half, dust and plastic parts came loose....dont want that in your tank!! edit: The snips I used left a clean edge. I just snipped the two vertical lines then grabbed that part and bent back and forth til' that little piece broke loose and left a pretty close to a rectangle shape. Link to comment

dopamine
oh sweet, then dremel will give ya the most control. Just wipe down with cloth, the ABS dust and shreads are full of static and will want to stick all over the place. Link to comment

diggman08
i used the attatchment that kinda looks like a drill bitt.... when you crank up the dremel to high speed,,, the bit will just melt through the plastic for a nice clean cut.... shouldt take you more than a min.. if you have water in your tank already (like i did) take a towel and cover your tank... and take some ceran wrap and cover your back chamber... your still gonnna get some plastic pieces in there, but you can scoop them out.. no worries i used the attatchment that kinda looks like a drill bitt..and use it like you would a Router.... when you crank up the dremel to high speed,,, the bit will just melt through the plastic for a nice clean cut.... shouldt take you more than a min.. if you have water in your tank already (like i did) take a towel and cover your tank... and take some ceran wrap and cover your back chamber... your still gonnna get some plastic pieces in there, but you can scoop them out.. no worries Link to comment
GioReef
I did it in a strange way but it made a perfect cut... I heated a knife up on my stove until it turned blazing red... then put it on the piece i wanted to cut. Made 1 vertical cut and one horizontal cut... it might smell like burning a little at first but it will go away fast... as soon as its dry.. I don't have a dremel so this was the best way. Nice clean cut. Link to comment
