matty0206
I foung this sea clear 15g(I think) about 6 months ago for $20, I thought it was a good deal so I bought it. It has been sitting around collecting dust since. My question is....What would you do with it? I know I want to use a mh pendant or clamp on for the light, what about plumbing and stocking? What would you do with it if you were me? All opinions welcome! Thanks! Link to comment
matty0206
No opinions? What about a species only for a.......? Link to comment
PodRod
If it were me I'd do something totally different - like seahorses. I know nothing about them but it seems like a nice tank for showcasing. Great find btw... Link to comment
matty0206
I dont want to do seahorses.....They are awesome but not for me! Anybody else? I like the totally different idea though! Link to comment
CarterNichols
sexy shrimp? just coral? pom-pom tank? baby whale? Link to comment
matty0206
How about a shark?..............No seriously I guess I should voice my concern. The depth of this tank kinda concerns me? And the fact if I had on overflow for a sump where would I clamp the light? Link to comment
AdriftQuasar
Don't clamp, use a pendant. Looks acrylic so plumbing shouldn't be an issue if you're willing to drill. As far as what to do with it, I suggest an SPS/clam tank. There's always biotope option too. Those are always exciting. Maybe a macro tank and a frogfish. That would be cool too. Link to comment
reefdan
+1 on clams +1 on 70w pendant. 150w might work but might also be overkill ever consider a harlequin pair? goby/shrimp pair? you could either drill it or use a canister filter to get the water moving. a big enough canister filter should avoid you having to use powerheads. matty0206
A frogfish sounds really cool! Would a 70w reach to the bottom of this tank? Also would I need a special bit to drill acrylic? Link to comment
CarterNichols
you could just use a dremel to cut a hole in it. Link to comment
Inception7
I would either A: do a mantis tank, B: Sps and Clams or C: Ricordia and Zoa Tank. I would drill a fuge/sump with skimmer if you do a Sps and Clam tank since they will require feeding. You could get away with a Canister if you don't plan on feeding corals (sps and clams) or having many fish. Oh and yes a 70 watt halide would reach the bottom just fine IMO. Link to comment
baj
You could get an orange sea rod and some ricordeas from SeaLifeFlorida (run by Ken Nedimeyer). http://www.sealifeinc.net/catalog/index.php Link to comment
matty0206
Could I do a dedicated tank with a rbta and a pair of onyx clowns? Link to comment

If I had a bigger tank that might be an option! I have a 3g pico right now so I think a 15g fuge might be a bit much! Link to comment
krankykris
my GF was given a 20g hex for free by a coworker. she's been kicking around the idea of DSB for garden eels. Link to comment
lakshwadeep
my GF was given a 20g hex for free by a coworker. she's been kicking around the idea of DSB for garden eels. +1. You could try jawfish and/or a small shrimp goby/pistol shrimp pair. Link to comment
matty0206
They are cool but I think they need a more shallow wide tank rather than a tall narrow tank, but idk for sure! Let me know what she decides I think they are similar in size tanks! Link to comment
brizhound
I had a 45 gallon hex and to keep it simple I used a pendant light and I had a Magnum HOT filter which I would put carbon in. The only problem I had by not drilling is all of the equipment in the tank. I like the RBTA/Clown idea with a few Sps that would be sweet. Link to comment
syntax_error
dwarf octopus! I don't encourage that idea. I've been looking into these as well, and gave up the thought because of a few reasons. 1. They have a very short lifespan of about 2 years. Also, there is no way to determine the age of a specimen. So when you purchase an octo you might get a one that is near the end of its lifespan. 2. They are nocturnal. Unless you want to stay up with a flash light, you wouldn't be able to enjoy your octo. Link to comment
crazydante23
Have someone build you a custom stand and canopy, and make it a zoa, ric tank.I saw a site somewhere, of someone who builds lil stands and canopys for desktop tanks. Link to comment
