Daladae
I have found something that I believe to be eggs on the glass. The only things I have in the tank that I am aware of are: Blue Leg Hermits Scarlet Reef Hermits Nerite Snails Nassarius Snails Cerith Snails Trochus Snails Fighting Conch Stomatella Anyone know what they might be? Thanks. Link to comment
Daladae
snail eggs free food Thanks man. I figured that's what it probably was. I take it that will prob be eaten by the hermits since I have no fish or shrimp? Link to comment

StevieT
if they stay on the glass there would be no way for the hermits to get to them. Once they fall off then it's free game. Honestly, with no fish you have a good chance of them surviving. if you don't want 100 little snails running around, i would yank them out. Link to comment

IF they hatch and survive I'll take a bunch to the LFS and see what I can trade them for The middle of the sack is about an inch off of the sand. Link to comment
Daladae
After much research I have found them to be Cerith Eggs. Link to comment
c est ma
Good job on the research. How cool to get snail eggs. Unfortunately most hatchling snails can't survive in our tanks (they tend to have planktonic larval stages) but at least you've had the experience and I'm sure something in your tank will enjoy the larvae. (Let us know if any survive!) --Diane Link to comment
Pickle010
You never know... I've had Nassarius Snails and Cerith Snails lay eggs and hatch in my tank. Not all of them survived but some of them did. I was especially suprised to see them make it because people said it was unlikely and my tank has fish. Link to comment
c est ma
Very cool! Did they grow all the way to adult size? I know that when I look through my stereo microscope at the stuff I siphon out, there are often minute gastropods that look just like the larvae I see in pics...But I've never been aware of any new "macro" snails. (Hope I haven't been siphoning them all out! ) --Diane Link to comment
Pickle010
They are all still juvi's Diane... The ceriths are probably a 1/4 inch plus and the Nass are just around a 1/4 inch in size - It's awesome to see the young Nass surface at feedings. But seeing they've made it this far I don't see any reason why they wouldn't continue to grow strong. Link to comment

That sounds so fantastic! But seeing they've made it this far I don't see any reason why they wouldn't continue to grow strong. I would think so, too. In fact you've just reminded me that quite a while ago (at least a year ago) I saw two teensy (scientifically speaking) cerith-shaped snails...unfortunately, they didn't last long, but my tank is so small...maybe I have a baby-snail predator and not enough safe areas...sigh. --Diane Link to comment
BKtomodachi
Back when I had a tank, my cerinths would lay a new batch every two weeks or so. Link to comment
r20crazy
I get certh eggs every week!!!! stupid horney snails. but my certh egg patterns are irregular 'zipper' patterns, not clumps as pictured Link to comment
Daladae
Most of my research also found the "zipper" patterned trail of eggs so I was skeptical until I found a picture of a Cerith laying eggs and the sack looked identical to mine. Also I had another sack of eggs on the glass like the first. I will update with pics if/when I find any survivors. Link to comment
