crazydante23
the skimmer worked great and then all of a sudden the pump stopped working, you could hear it humm, but it wasn't turning, took it out cleaned it and it worked for about 10 minutes, and then it would stop and just humm again, did this about 3 or 4 times, same thing. I had some extra time so I really cleaned the pump, took it a part and put it back together, it's been running for 5 days now non stop than it stopped. I unplug it for 15 minutes, than it starts for 5 minutes before stopping again. You guys think it might be the empellar or is the unit getting too hot. I dont want to order an empellar for nothing. Anybody has any experience with this issue. thanks Link to comment

Hans Dorn
OK, here we go again - I had some kind of a brain fart... I don't know if this applies to your pump, but here goes: One of my pumps stopped working, and after taking it apart I noticed the impeller had come loose from the hollow shaft that connects it to the magnetic rotor. I reattached it with a small drop of super glue, and the pump is working again. Take care you don't glue the impeller to the pump axle, like I suggested in my edited post Link to comment
Daemonfly
I had a problem with a Sedra pump the first time it hit the water. It would run for 5-10 minutes then stop. From my examinations, it seemed the impeller wasn't completely straight, and the shaft hole wasn't entirely smooth & clean. Never bothered trying to fix it though, just tossed it back in the box and threw it in the "box o parts". Link to comment
crazydante23
I noticed the magnet wasnt smooth, maybe this is the culprit. Has anybody ever heard of the magnet swelling up? Link to comment
