running t5s right now..thinkin MH. Should i get an HQI pendent or the coralife clamp-on one? for the clamp-on can the light reach the whole 30" length of the 20L? Also can it handle a 250w bulb or jus 150? thanks

i have 2x70w MH over mine and it works great. it will, however, be expensive when i need to get new bulbs...

i recommend the 30" 150w sunpod. that's what i would get if i could go at it again. that or t5s -but they don't have them for a 30" tank. you'd have to get some 24watters and retro them

for the t5's i was thinkin gettin a 24" fixture and hang it. But can 4x 24w handle sps? Also the Sunlight Supply 24" New Wave T5 Fixture - 4-Bulb, 4 x 24W that i want it says Not intended for use over an open aquarium. A glass lid MUST be used, and the fixture hung. can anyone confirm this? thnx...:D

I used and liked my 24" Aqualight Pro, it was on a 20H though 150w MH gives you a lot of options in bulbs and types of corals etc you can keep.

i may be to late but i have 4 39w t5s over my 29g (same foot print as a 20L, its just taller) and they actually fit perfectly... they just over hang like an inch on each side (i think when they give measurements the mean with end caps... any way they work really well for me and it gives you more control over the color of light in your tank due to mixing and matching of bulbs... that being said there are pro and cons to both t5 and MH, i dont have MH so i cant really say which is better but there are lots of people here very knowledgeable when it comes to lighting...

oh and your question about protecting t5s from water... i have mine just sitting on top of the tank with no glass inbetween with no ill effects... and mine are DIY so nothing is inclose, and wires are not really well protected (not that i would advise others to do it this way
