Iv just been told that my lighting is way too much, i didnt know this was possible, iv got about 3.5w of blue 20 000k and 3.5w of 6500k white per gallon, total of about 7w per gallon, i wrote before this is a 5G but iv got a new tank and thats 7G, 6.6G is the exact amount of the amount of water i put in so numbers have changed a bit, before it was 9.8w per gallon. Do you think this is too much?

How stable is the rock work? I looks like it could topple over at anytime. Other than that it looks pretty good. I love the rimless tanks.

The rocks are pretty stable, the main slab is supored from all 4 sides, 2 big on the left and right and 2 small on the front and back, the rest i will epoxy together but i want to encorperate coral frags with them so for now im oing to leave it (nothing should fall theres alot of current directed at it and not a wabble)

People please help, will 7w/g fry softies??? thats what iv started to hear now

I've got a 96w quad light on my 1/2 10g tank. It actually works out to 4.2 gallons and that's not factoring in rock and sand and all that. That's just the volume of the tank itself. Your light should be fine. I've got plenty of softies in mine and they love life. It is hung over the tank and not sitting on the legs provided so it's a bit higher off the tank. Still, that's a boatload of watts per gallon and my stuff is fine. All of the corals in this tank did come from my other tank though. That's a 55g with 760 total watts of light on it. I think your light will be just fine.

I dig the rockwork. Lots of kewl places to put frags. Have to get creative with the epoxy for some of them but that's no big deal.

Hello again, Avi. :)

By the way, I do like the looks of your tank. It looks slick and eye-appealing. Seven gallons is doable with that wattage - both bulbs but I personally wouldn't put them directly under the light. Rather, place the softies at the bottom, or perhaps with your rockwork, 'scape it so that you have a little bridge or "den" which will create a darker spot where light can't directly shine down on the corals.

The others that posted in this thread do have quite a bit of light on their tanks - perhaps they are lucky. But there are softies that are very hardy and able to adapt such as mushrooms and polyps.

Yes, taking pictures is fun. :D Do take more, please. If you like, for reference, I have a 50/50 40w PC on a 10g. I keep mostly mushrooms but there is a giant nemphia and chili coral in there too. I don't think I could kill that nemphia if I tried, lol. :D

Cheers!
