Auto Top Off Pump Options

For a while, I used my JBJ ATO unit along with a Tom's Aqualifter pump successfully with my old 12g. But now that I have a 33, the pump is much too slow to keep up with the evaporation. I have a spare MJ900, will that be able to pump from the ground to the top of the tank (about 52ish ")? Also, how would I go about attaching the tubing to the top of the tank, so that it doesn't spill everywhere? Like a clamp or something?

Thanks in advance for any help guys :D

I would try the MJ900 and see if it works. If it doesn't, step up to a MJ1200 or elevate your top-off reservoir so the 900 doesn't have to pump so far. You could hang a rigid "U" tube over the top of your tank and secure it somehow so it only sprays in your tank.

Thanks for the response :D

I'll have to just try out the MJ900 and hope it can pump it up to the top. Good idea with the rigid u-tube, I'll have to see what I can come up with...

I use a 1200 on my JBJ ATO. It seems to pump it really fast, but I do think a 900 would work. My height is around 48".

here is how I got it to spray down into the chamber, I used an output deflecor to direct the flow. As soundman said, a u-shaped tube woud work well too.

you're welcome. That deflector piece comes with the pump anyways so mid as well use it. I Used a clamp to secure it. The white stuff is aquamend putty, pretty much makes sure no water comes out the wrong way!!!

Yeah, after looking at your setup I noticed I have all of the things you used to hook it up to the top there... the ato clamp that you ziptied it to, the deflector, etc. Now I just gotta try out this pump and get to fabricating
