bzphotog
why dont you get a drop in thermometer type of hydrometer? that way there is no messing around with water spilling and I hear they are more accurate bzphotog Link to comment

Alexraptor
Please don't tell me that you laid the whole lenght of the hydrometer down on a flat bottom surface... Link to comment

ebin
pics of it on it's side so we all can snicker please. reminds me of the time my dad replaced the battery in his car and thought the car was broken down. after towing it to a shop he found out that the pretective plastic cap needs to be taken off the battery post! wsamsky
um, maybe dont fill it to the brim? you actually cant fill these things to the brim, they have a little cut out on the side that only lets the water level get so high. Link to comment
MadCapLaughed
well its much better this way seems accurate! Link to comment

mattfox27
make sure when you fill the hydrometer you flick it with your fingers to get any loose air bubbles off the indicator so you can get a better reading. Like the other guy above me said the drop in hydrometer works pretty good they have them at petco for like 2.99 and its got a built in thermometer. I eventaually got a refractometer from marinedepot it was there brand for about 25.00 on sale and it works really good and very simple to use, plus you look cool using it...like some crazy scientist, i have to say my two best buys in this hobby was the ATO and refractometer. The ATO i just bought recently after many years i should have gotten it earlier make a pain in the A$$ job automatic..i love it... Link to comment
