Some nasty things can develop in stagnant water. Id keep a pump in it just for precaution, even if its just a $10 nano powerhead. Link to comment
coolwaters
ok thanks for that. i'll most likely to just throw in one 70gph pump. Link to comment
SaltWaterNewb
I think it is wise to always have some saltwater made up and on hand in case of an emergency but if you are doing your water changes you shouldn't have to keep the same water for several months ; ) Link to comment

rhunter513
bump - I too want some opinions on storing SW and RO water. How does the pre-mixed store bought stuff stay "fresh"? I store my RO water in a 5gal bucket with the lid on and a small pitcher of RO water with the lid on for top-offs. Is this ok? I have a Kent Bare-bones CTS RO filter and it takes a long time to make 5gals of water, serves me better to make 10gals at a time and store it. It will be a major PITA to run powerheads in all my 5gal buckets(exp for prep water change water) and I hope I don't need to. Thoughts? Thanks. Link to comment
