donk
I bought these pink centered zoas about two weeks ago. When I bought them they were very close to the rock and covered the whole rock. Now they are getting very long ( the shaft is about two and a half inches). Im just wondering if anyone has experienced this before with their zoas. Are they just happy and growing well or are they too far from the lights and trying to extend to get closer? The set up is an Aquapod 12 with the stock pc lights (only about 2 months old) They are placed about half way up Link to comment
Weetabix7
They are reaching for more light, put them closer to the top. Link to comment
TheUnfocusedOne
those kinda look like AoG... either that or the ones i got too Link to comment
nanoty
Yep, my poor zoas are being shielded by a huge mushroom and are all stretching to get out from under it.......I should do something about that. Link to comment
donk
Thanks for the quick response. I did alot of research before I stocked this tank and I went with alot of zoas because everywhere I read it said that they did not need alot of light. Now Im worried that Im going to have a whole bunch of crappy looking, expensive, zoas, streched all over my tank. Link to comment
reefone
only the real bright ones tend to need more light. Link to comment
lilredneckman
Yeah just move them closer to the light and they should be fine. Link to comment
donk
Ive considered upgrading the stock lighting but Ive also read that if I have too much the corals will start to bleach out Link to comment
Nick's Reef
Well this explains why my beautiful pink palys are always streached out, they may just have to stay where they are cause I don't have many places to move them up higher w.o./ getting stung to death by my hammer. Link to comment
donk
Will they eventually die because of lack of lighting or just keep streching? Link to comment
reefone
no they will just lose color. Link to comment
donk
sorry for so many questions but I just moved them up and looked at a pic I took right after I got them and noticed that they did lose some color. Should the color return since I moved them up? Link to comment
