Daemonfly
No, I haven't ever had it affect anything other than the flatworms. Read the instructions though. The main problem is that when the flatworms die, they release a toxin that can affect the tank. Manually remove as many as you can, 1/4" tubing works great to suck em out. Then dose, and have fresh carbon on-hand to put in a short while after the dosing. Link to comment
yankeereefer
I read in another post regarding flatworms that they're photosynthetic - Will they die off then if I cook my LR/LS that had a small infestation? By "cooking" I mean covered bucket w/heater and powerhead for several weeks with periodic waterchanges. I know it's an older thread, but it's relevant. YR Link to comment
Chaluz
The FWE will work on flatworms & as rightly mentioned you need to be prepared to suck all the toxin out. It also works to treat nudi's too...one of our local club members used it to treat his zoos & palys..my order is on the way too..... Link to comment
Kellie in CA
I just used FWE last weekend and it worked wonders. I had to use more than double the recommended dosage, though. I syphoned out as many of the dead flatworms as I could, but there were just so many that it was impossible to get them all. My corals were majorly p*ssed for a while, but they were all back to normal within about 3-4 days. I have noticed in the past few days that a few of the flatworms survived, so I plan on doing another dose soon. It shouldn't affect the corals as much this time though, because since there are very few flatworms this time, the toxins should be very minimal. Link to comment
gojo531
Does using flatworm Exit kill anything biologicaly in the tank like pods etc.? Just a heads up... Be VERY CAREFUL. Listen to this podcast if you can. http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/podcast-...isode-78-a.html Good Luck, John Link to comment
skh
In my experience FWE also kills mini brittle stars. The smallest kind seems the most vulnerable. Link to comment

joelsaxton
I just used some, and it seems to have killed most of the flatworms. BUT it also has killed a large number of pods, which disappoints me greatly, and makes me feel that Salifert's claims are pretty much false advertising. This product is NOT reef safe! If it is true that it also kills mini brittle stars, then that is also quite unfortunate, as I have some of them from ipsf.com. Link to comment
Rick Shaw
It IS reef safe. Like mentioned above when the flat worms die they release toxins that will harm the tanks inhabitants. It has been known to stun snails and brittle stars. Form my experience they are back to normal by the next day. With FWE you want to do a couple doses. You need to interrupt and stop the egg cycle. Once a week at higher than recommended strength IIRC. Do more reading Link to comment

My smaller amphipod population appears to have been impervious, but the other species of pods were decimated. I suppose the small amount of flatworm toxin could have done that, but I am quite skeptical. Link to comment
Rick Shaw
Nothing but flat worms died and I used WAY more than the recommended dosage. My snails were giving me dirty looks for a hour or so but thats it. Did you suck out as many as you could before the treatment? Did you do a large water change after the treatment? Did you run carbon after the treatment? Link to comment

Rick Shaw
They must have mostly been in your rock or sand. Make sure dose again for the next couple weeks or they will come back. Link to comment
