horsehunter
What is the easiest, best, and safest way to raise PH in a 10 gal saltwater tank? I have a 10 gallon with 4, 3 lb. pieces of different kinds of Live Rock that I have been watching to decide what type I want to use in a 25 gallon high that I intend to set up. The nitrites whent to 0 about 3 weeks ago and it contains 3 Blue leg Hermits and 3 Astrael snails. The PH has remained consistently 7.8 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 10 I dont have test kits for Alk or Calcium yet they are in the mail The LFS gets the same results as I do, and said the alk was 280. I thought the alk results would be in DKH and be around 8 or 10 or some such number. I am mixing my salt with RO water from Culligan and topping off with distilled. African Cichlids are easy the swim in my well well water straight from the tap and love it . Thanks Frank Link to comment
tinyreef
try AP's Proper pH 8.2. it's simple and cheap. they're a client of mine so i won't comment on the makeup of their mixture : but at least it's easy enough to use and safe. a two-part ca/alk additive should balance it out after you stabilize the pH. hth Link to comment
horsehunter
Anything available in the Drug or grocery storeI am in a small town and about an hour from a LFS store . I think people use baking soda in fresh water. Thanks Frank Link to comment
tinyreef
baking soda can be used but you may want to test dose it, i.e. 1/4~1/2 tsp/day then measure pH (dosage depends upon each individual system's size and existing balance). Link to comment
