Tentacle madness

ok, so every zoa or paly that goes in my tank develops long tentacles. A while back I grabbed a tiny frag of purple deaths from zoanuts.com:

 

 

which has grown and multiplied nicely, but over time has developed longer tentacles and no longer has the short-n-stubby morphology that i usually see on PDs:

 

 

does anyone else have purple deaths with longer tentacles? are my prized palys hideously deformed?

Thanks! I'm worried though that they're morphing too much and I won't be able to trade 'em as PDs when I'm ready to frag.

Are they in heavy flow? Some of my palys or zoas I put right in high flow get like that.

yep, almost all of my tank is pretty high-flow... i think the longer tentacles let 'em grab food from the water column more effectively in high-flow areas.

 

I think they look better with the long and luxurious tentacles.

i've already been sodomized by your alien brown polyp... the addition of tentacle pr0n is JUST TOO MUCH TO BEAR. T_T

I'll second the higher flow, longer tentacles.... same happens with alot of mine.
