Peppermint shrimp to the rescue!

I have a multi tank setup and know how quickly aiptasia can get hold once it starts. I have been pretty careful about my rock selection but eventually in this hobby you will get a few stray things on corals and such.

I went to a local frag swap and saw a 4-5" clam I HAD to have (lol) and took it home. After it acclimated and got cozy, 4 little aiptasias popped out on it.. d'oh!

anyway long story short, bought 3 peppermint shrimp, put 2 in there with the clam (the 3rd shrimp in a second tank that also had an aiptasia hitch-hiker on a recent coral purchased)..and within 48 hours..BAM all aiptasias eaten and gone..GOOD RIDDANCE I say.

Nice when a plan like that actually works out. I have heard and seen how often the shrimps will just not eat the darn things.

Just keep an eye on them, cause I had a Peppermint Shrimp eat my Green Torch.

I just got a Berghia Nudibranch to control an aiptasia outbreak in my 16g display tank.

you may have to buy or "aquire" some more aiptasia on a regular basis to keep him alive remember

hahaha, no. just start feeding it some frozen foods before it gets a taste for coral, its now one of your pets that you must feed occasionally.
