coolwaters
they grow fast? i wanted them to give my tank a green grass effect but if they grow too fast forget it.. Link to comment
greeneyes
Yes they grow fast, but IMO not that fast. If they start getting out of control you can just remove some of there purple mat. Not hard at all to do. Link to comment
Prowland
I love my gsp! It is growing very fast in my tank. Just put it where it cant get to any other rocks and it should stay put. Link to comment
allenspidey
Mine doesn't grow at all. I have it on an island and it pretty much hasn't went anywhere. Link to comment

speppers69
Because they grow on a mat they're easy to control. They aren't like aptasia, hair algae or something that will divide and conquer and pop up anywhere. The amount of light and water flow and water parameters are going to dictate how fast they grow. But they are far from uncontrollable. When mine would grow up on the tank walls I would just use an exacto knife and trim off the mat and take the trimmings to my lfs and trade em for sumthin else or place them in another part of the tank. The mat usually takes about 2-3 days to anchor itself to a new location. They're one of my favs. Link to comment
coolwaters
they seem pretty expensive...but im going to see if i can get some for the professor. do they grow slower then frowspawns? IME their the fastest growing coral i have ever owned...and it was with a crappy light. Link to comment
brewbruin
Does the mat have to be physically attached to a rock or can you just set the mat on top of a rock? How long does it usually stay retracted when you first put it into your tank? Link to comment
J.R.L.
mine came from a mother colony that was in sand so i put mine in it as well and its much easier to control in sand because you can just cut pieces off and ta-da you have frags for trades or $$$ Link to comment
