SeeDemTails
So I got this bad arse wellsophylia brain that has been doing great in my tank for almost a month. Until my clowns started hosting it! WTF!!!!!! The clowns are huge black ocellaris that I have had for over two years, and they are pretty big. I like the clowns more than the coral so if someone goes it will be the brain, but I am still so pissed at them. I can get them to stop undermining it, biting it, and sleeping on it at night preventing me from feeding it, as it is used to the clowns being all in it at night so it doesnt close up on food, or the clowns eat the food, even at night. They also fug with it so much in the day time that it only inflates 1/3 of the day, the other times it is deflated because they are biting it so much. It inflates and deflates through out the day, and night. I doubt it, but is there anything I can do other than get something else for them to host to? I dont have room for a nem so thats not an option. I light be able to do a frogspawn, but that might be pushing it. Link to comment
spanko
Sounds like you are going to have to live with it or get rid of something to save the both. Even if you got a frog that doesn't mean they will host in it. Sorry I know that is not what you wanted to hear, maybe someone else has a brainstorm. Ha Ha get it brainstorm........ Link to comment
dshnarw
you could always get them a nice, shiny new powerhead... Link to comment
smstearman
I have an occelaris that hosted my heater for a long time (???) then when I got a new occelaris the both began to host the torch. Now I have an anenome which has planted itself just behind the torch, but they still host the torch. Just getting something else doesn't mean they will host it instead. You will have to make them not want to be there (negative reinforcement) or remove the coral (possibly temporarily until they've set up another territory). Link to comment
SeeDemTails
I dont really have any options. I will leave it alone for the time being and see if they move to something else. If not the brain has to go. Link to comment
Fade2White12
Put the brain in a QT tank for a few days and reintroduce it. If they begin to host it again, you may have to get rid of the brain. Link to comment
greeneyes
I would get rid of the fish. Link to comment
SeeDemTails
These are the fish... This is the brain.... Tough call, but the fish stay if it goes down. Link to comment
joesmoe517
When i gave my wellso to a friend his clowns started hosting it as well in his 90 gal. however after a week or so they left it alone, im guessing one had a close call with getting stuck in the tentacles and almost being eaten. Like smstearman said, however incorrectly using negative reinforcement (taking something away to reward) as a term, you need to use positive punishment (putting something in to punish) to keep them out of it most likely. What i did when i had this problem with my bubble was i stuck my turkey baster in everytime they start to host it and blast some water/air at them. Over a few days they eventually get the point. mmmm, dank reefer. Link to comment
