what to put in 3 gal. pico

i was wondering what i should put in a 3 gal. pico...what type of LR and sand, plus what lights and filter

i was wondering what i should put in a 3 gal. pico...what type of LR and sand, plus what lights and filter

 

without knowing the specifics of your tank or what you plan on keeping, i'll assume:

 

softies only, maybe a piece of modest LPS or two:

 

- 18W-36W PC lighting

- HOB filter - Hagen AC20,30,50 (replace impeller on the 50)

in the filter:

- floss

- carbon

- chaeto or LR rubble, if desired

- bigger filters give you more filtration options and a marginal increase in water volume

- about 3-5 lbs LR

- LS or plain ole aragonite to cover 1.5" or so of the bottom

 

this is just my opinion. i like carbon because it makes the water so clear... others will have different opinions. i do 1/2 gal water change every week.

i was thinking about purigen in mine but i have what he has

only i hve an ap70 with the 50 impeller

tanks doing really well
